Win a signed Lytro Light-field camera!

Lytro is the new way of taking photos, and we have one to give away, signed by the company’s founder, Dr. Ren Ng.

More than just a simple still, Lytro is a departure from the regular stills based photography that we’ve had for centuries. Rather than just seeing an image the way you shot it, a Lytro image allows you to change the focus point after you’ve taken the photo, resulting in one of the most interactive images you’ll ever see.

We have a review of this exciting technology, as well as an interview with the founder of the company, but now we’re giving you the chance to win one, with the box signed by that very creator.

Remember, the Lytro specialises in taking something out of focus in the background and allowing someone to throw it back in focus when it’s posted online. You can share your photos and compose double meanings, pushing your photographic creativity to new heights.

If you’re not sure what we mean, check out the image below, which is one of our Lytro pictures. Click on different parts of the image – the glasses, the trees – to see them go in and out of focus, and see how this changes photography.

We only have one of these cameras to give away, but the best answer as judged by our slightly out of focus judges will win, and will go home (or be sent, at least) one of these revolutionary cameras.

Entries close on November 21, so you have some time, but make sure to get in and try!

Terms & Conditions of Entry

1. Information on how to enter forms part of the terms and conditions of entry. To enter the Lytro competition visit www.gadgetguy.com.au, click on the competition link, and answer the 25 words or less caption question. Eligible participants are required to provide their name, email address, answer, and post code to complete their entry. 2. You can enter this competition as many times as you like, even on the one email address. 3. Entry is open to all permanent residents of Australia, but to be eligible to win the prize the email address you submit with your entry must be actively subscribed to the GadgetGuy or GadgetGuy Extra newsletter at the time of the prize judging. 4. The judges' decision is final and no correspondence shall be entered into. Prizes cannot be transferred or redeemed for cash. 5. This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining winners. 6. Judging for the competition will take place on November 23, 2012 at Gadget Group, 120 Cathedral St, Woolloomooloo NSW 2011. 7. The promoter will not be held responsible for any late, lost or misdirected mail. 8. No employees, relatives or associates of Lytro, Blonde Robot or Gadget Group Pty Ltd can enter the competition. 9. The winners shall be notified by email. 10. Prize value is the recommended retail value as provided by the supplier and is correct at the time of printing. All prize values are in Australian dollars. 11. The promoter shall not be responsible for any loss or damage whatsoever that is suffered (including but not limited to direct or consequential loss) or any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with any prize/s, except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law. 12. The competition commences October 12, 2012 and concludes at 5 pm (Sydney time) on November 21, 2012. All entries become the property of the promoter. 13. Prize winners once notified by email of their win have three (3) months from the dispatch of our email to supply us their contact details. If there is no response from the winner, the prize will be forfeited. 14. There is one (1) Lytro Red Hot 16GB valued at $599 to give away, making the total prize pool valued at $599. 15.
