Christmas Lights Competition Entries are now open for Gold Coast City Council's 2012 Christmas Lights Competition. Join hundreds of Gold Coast residents, businesses and community groups in lighting the city with the magic of Christmas. Please note: entrants must have their displays ready for judging by 27 November lights and displays must be illuminated from 7 to 24 December for public viewing How to enter and enquiries Entry forms are available at all Council offices, libraries or can be downloaded from this website. Entrants will receive a confirmation letter, promotional sign to display at their property and an invitation to the award ceremony upon receipt of their entry form. Categories available Residential Display Single Feature Commercial Display Not For Profit Organisation First Year Entry Phone Council's Corporate Communication Branch on (07) 5581 5272 for any enquiries. Judging Judging will be held from 27 November to 3 December. Judges will notify the owner/occupier once they have visited. Judges use score sheets rating each property on visual appeal, overall impact, uniqueness, variety of decorations used, safety and tidiness and any environmental and energy efficient initiatives. Award ceremony The award ceremony will be held on Thursday, 6 December. Entrants are invited to enjoy a special presentation ceremony where trophies and prizes will be awarded. Prizes An array of prizes will be awarded in each category at the ceremony on Thursday, 6 December. This year our prizes have been provided by Robina Town Centre, Event Cinemas Robina and Birch Carroll and Coyle. Bus tours and public viewing In the weeks leading up to Christmas our city comes alive with the dazzling array of Christmas lights. Collect your viewing list on this site to help plan your visits. Council provides bus tours through Murray's Coaches, departing from the Arts Centre Gold Coast each night (between 7 – 24 December) at 7pm. Bookings are essential.
