Energy balance is the balance of kilojoules we eat and drink with the kilojoules we burn off through activity. Currently there is an energy imbalance in Australia, which has led to increasing rates of overweight and obesity. To help address this imbalance, former Olympian and mum-of-two Susie O’Neill, is calling on Australian’s to take the Together Counts Pledge and commit to making changes towards a healthier lifestyle.

We encourage you to make your Together Counts Pledge as creative as possible. Just tell us in 25 words or less your pledge to engage in a healthy activity this new school year. To help you stick to your pledge and stay motivated, here are some tips:
Be realistic about your circumstances – don’t pledge to run a marathon next month if you’ve never jogged before!
Be specific – avoid pledges like “lose weight” and instead aim for something such as “I pledge to do at least 30 minutes of brisk walking every day”
Make it measurable – e.g. how many days per week of physical activity can you fit in? Or if you aren’t the main grocery buyer, perhaps commit to making a nutritious meal plan once a month?
The 100 most creative pledges will receive a $100 Woolworths shopping voucher, so get pledging! Pledges can be made until midnight Thursday 28th February.

Together Counts Pledge Campaign

Below are the conditions of entry for the Together Counts Pledge Campaign:

Information on prizes and how to enter form part of these conditions of entry.
The Promoter is the Australian Food & Grocery Council (ABN 23 068 732 883) Locked Bag 1, Kingston ACT, 2604.
The “Promotion” commences at 12.01 am AEDT on 12/02/13 and closes at 12.00 pm AEDT on 28/02/13. No responsibility accepted for lost, late, illegible or misdirected entries.
Entry to the Promotion is open to people of all ages, (“Entrants”). Entrants under the age of 18 years must have the consent of their parent or legal guardian to enter this Promotion. Employees of the Promoter and agencies associated with the Promotion (and those employees’ immediate families) are ineligible.
To enter the Promotion, entrants must answer the following question “In 25 words or less, tell us your pledge to engage in a healthy activity this month”.
Entrants can only submit their entry online via www.togethercounts.com.au
Entrants agree to not submit any material that is unlawful or fraudulent or that may be in breach of any intellectual property, privacy, publicity or other rights, defamatory, obscene, abusive, threatening, racist, ageist, sexist, objectionable with respect to religion, origin or gender, not suitable for children under 15, or otherwise unsuitable for publication.
Each Entrant warrants that all details provided in their entry form are true and correct and that the entry is their own original creation and work, and does not infringe the rights (including copyright) of any other person. Each Entrant agrees to indemnify the Promoter in relation to any loss or damage resulting from any breach of warranty.
Entrants can submit multiple pledges but only win one prize.
One hundred (100) of the most creative entries will receive a $100 Woolworths grocery voucher that can be redeemed at any Woolworths store.
The prize winners will be the Entrants whose entries provides the best answer to the question (in point 5) in the opinion of the Promoter’s panel of judges.
The Judging Panel will consist of three (3) judges who will vote on the best entries.
Judging will be based on criteria including, but not limited to; creativity, originality and practicality, as judged by the Promoter in absolute discretion. The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Judgement of prizes is based on skill, chance plays no part.
Judging will be conducted from 04/03/13 to 08/03/13 and winners will be advised via email the week after (w/c 11th March). Please allow two days to two weeks for delivery of prizes from receipt of delivery details via email to the Promoter.
Entrants must submit required personal particulars to the Promoter before the prize can be awarded.
If a prize winner does not email their postal address within five (5) working days upon their awarding, the prize will be forfeited and the Promoter may award the prize to an alternate winner.
Prizes (or any unused portion of a Prize) cannot be exchanged or refunded and are not transferable for cash. The prize must be taken as stated and cannot be varied. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for lost, undelivered items or incorrectly provided address details.
To the extent permitted by law, each entrant hereby assigns to the Promoter all intellectual property rights (including copyright) in the entry submitted. If any intellectual property rights (including a moral right) cannot be assigned, each entrant hereby grants to the Promoter an irrevocable exclusive licence in perpetuity to use, copy, distribute, broadcast, modify, adapt and otherwise exploit the entry for any purpose, together with all ancillary rights. The Promoter may exercise all such rights without any fee being paid to the entrant.
The Promoter assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of, the Promotion. The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone, network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to entrant’s or referral’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation in or down-loading any material in this promotion.
Entry into the promotion shall be deemed acceptance of these conditions of entry and is deemed approval to use the winners’ name(s) for publicity purposes. The Promoter may at its discretion refuse to award any prize to any entrant who fails to comply with these conditions of entry.

Wow! Just found out that I have won one of the $100 vouchers! Very happy as it'll make my student food budget stretch that much further!

I nearly missed my winning email for this competition as it turned up amongst my junk mail. If anyone else on ACC has entered this comp and have not heard anything yet, I suggest that you check your junk mail. You also may have a surprise waiting for you.  :)
