Healthy communities survey Great Lakes Council is developing a Healthy Communities Plan as part of the Great Health Great Lakes project, funded by the Australian Government. Residents are being asked to participate in a survey, the results of which will contribute to the Great Lakes Healthy Communities Plan. "Whilst it is not Council's role to provide health services, we are able to advocate for these services and we can work to assist our residents to live in a healthy environment" says Lyndie Hepple, Council's Community Services Coordinator. "We are interested to learn what our residents consider to be important when we talk about a healthy community. We are trying to take a holistic approach, and consider clinical services as well as environmental and infrastructure factors." As an incentive for residents to participate in the survey, Council is offering four $50 shopping vouchers. Those who participate and provide their contact details will go into a draw for the vouchers. All responses will be kept confidential. Residents of the Great Lakes Local Government Area are invited to undertake the survey until 10 January 2014. If residents do not have access to the internet and wish to participate, they can call Council on 6591 7222 to request a hard copy of the survey. A reply-paid envelope will be included to assist with the return of the completed survey.
