WIN a double pass to Diavolo Dance Theatre (Melbourne) (http://res.cloudinary.com/yaffa-publishing/image/upload/fl_keep_iptc,c_fit,w_300/Diavolo%20Dance%20Theater_Photo%20Julie%20Shelton%202%20HR_7D71AF70-780C-11E3-9255005056A302E6.jpg) US company Diavolo Dance Theatre literally flies into the Arts Centre Melbourne this February with a unique brand of daredevil dance. Dance meets extreme sport as the dancers of Diavolo leap from large set pieces and skateboard across the stage. The company will present a double bill entited “Architecture in Motion” in Melbourne. The program opens with Trajectoire, which is set on a 21st century galleon. Like a ship on the waves, the 17-foot-long structure rocks back and forth and the dancers are catapulted across the stage as the momentum builds. The second work is Transit Space. This piece references Southern California’s skateboard culture and the 2001 documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys. Set in a skate park, the dancers move about the stage with speed, fearlessness and determination. They swerve around on makeshift skateboards and hurtle their bodies up and down an ever-moving network of vertical ramps.
