Queensland’s home for stories wants a slice of your writing
State Library of Queensland's Young Writers Award is now open.


We’re looking for inspiring, vivid and bold short stories by Queensland writers aged 18-25.
Whether you’re just starting out, or already making your mark as a writer, your creative work could win $2,000.
For the chance to see your story published and win cash, enter your best work by 5pm 17 May 2021.

What to submit
A short story, up to 2,500 words.

Prizes
First prize is $2,000, plus publication in Griffith Review.
Runners up receive $500.

How to enter
Read the guidelines to make sure you're eligible
Write a short story of up to 2,500 words (one entry per person)
Format your story using our tips
Make sure your name doesn't appear anywhere on the story
Submit your entry online during the entry period
The Young Writers Award is free to enter!
