The Golden Pen

New Closing Date! As we have moved Scribblers Festival back to September, we thought it only fair to push back the closing date of The Golden Pen Writing Award, too. So you now have until Sunday 17 July 2022, to send in your submission.

Are you a young writer, keen to share your stories with the world?  This writing competition is the perfect place to start flexing your creativity. The theme this year is Everyday Magic and we can’t wait to read the stories you have bubbling away in your brains... Perhaps it’s about a magical creature? Or an everyday object, which is actually a portal to a new world? Maybe you find magic in the beauty of nature, such as a rainbow on a stormy day, or a dandelion full of wishes waiting to be blown into the breeze. The options are as limitless as your imagination.   Open across three age categories and blind judged by a star panel of authors, winners will be announced at a special event at Scribblers Festival Family Weekend on 17 Sept and could win up to $500 in cash and more amazing prizes.

To enter, create a story no more than 3000 words in any format you like, from poetry to prose to comics responding to this year’s theme, and submit by 17 July 2022. Click on the links below to find out the finer details and to submit your work.
