Grande Experiences, Andrew Kay, BBC Studios, and Fane, in partnership with Lexus, present the global sensation Van Gogh Alive, an incredible immersive multi-sensory experience, for the first time in the Grand Pavilion.

Van Gogh’s works have been displayed and enjoyed worldwide for over a century – but never like this. For a limited time only, audiences will have the unique opportunity to fully experience Van Gogh’s artistry and truly immerse themselves in his world.


The experience provides a COVID-safe environment that is designed to be contactless and complies with social-distancing advice.


Make no mistake – this is no ordinary art exhibition. Created by Australia’s own Grande Experiences, Van Gogh Alive sets aside traditions of tiptoeing through silent galleries and viewing paintings from afar in quiet contemplation.

Instead, visitors find themselves interacting with art in ways they never imagined. From start to finish, visitors are surrounded by a vibrant symphony of light, colour, sound, and fragrance that has been described as an ‘unforgettable’ multi-sensory experience.


In a world-first, the internationally acclaimed Van Gogh Alive will be housed in the Grand Pavilion, a specially designed and constructed 25,000-square-foot immersive gallery that is being constructed in Foreshore Park.

The Grand Pavilion features a visually stunning wrap-around floral exterior and spectacular immersive foyers, including an exact recreation of Van Gogh’s famous painting of the Café Terrace at Night.


Designed by Australian designer Anna Cordingley, the Grand Pavilion also houses two immersive areas: The Sunflower Infinity Room and a walk-through immersive recreation of arguably Van Gogh’s most famous painting, Starry Night.


Don’t miss this art event of the year, brought to you by Lexus, as Van Gogh’s masterpieces come to life!


It’s suitable for the whole family as kids and parents can enjoy this multi-sensory experience, viewing artworks from new angles and discovering unique perspectives.


Visitors also have the chance to examine Van Gogh’s sources of inspiration with photographs and video displayed alongside his works.

Individual visit times will vary, but most visitors can anticipate spending 60 – 90 minutes. The main feature of the experience lasts approximately 45 minutes.

It’s strongly recommended that you book tickets online in advance of your visit. To ensure a comfortable and safe visit for all visitors, access to the experience is by timed entry. Tickets are purchased for a specific date and time slot and will not be valid for entry on another day or time.

Dates: 7 days a week from 22 September until 23 October, 2022.

Cost: Adult $45. Child 2-15 $37. Concession $42. Babes in arms (under 2 years of age) are free.
Concession prices are available for Pension card holders, health card holders, veterans and full-time students.

Competition opens Wednesday 31 August 2022 and will close on Thursday 8 September 2022 at midnight (Newcastle time). Comments submitted after this time will not be considered for the giveaway.
The entry mechanism is via 30 words or less and is a game of skill. The most creative answer will win. The winner will be awarded based on the strength of their creative answer to the question “Why do you want to win a double pass to Van Gogh Live?”
The prize is a double pass to Van Gogh Alive to be awarded to three winners. Tickets will be for selected sessions.
The results of the giveaway will be published on this site on Monday 12 September 2022. Winners will be notified via email.
Prizes are not redeemable for cash and are non-transferable. The total prize value is $270
Judging will be done by Newy with Kids. Judge’s decision is final.
The competition is open to Australian residents only.
If for any reason beyond the Promoter’s control, the agreed prize is not available a product of equal or greater value will be provided.
