‘Flick the Switch’ competition - 2022 Christmas in Geelong Here’s a unique opportunity for kids aged 12 years and under to meet Santa and win a chance to flick the switch and turn on Geelong’s Floating Christmas Tree on Saturday 12 November! Twelve finalists will be drawn. Each finalist and their immediate family will receive access to an exclusive area at the opening night event to enjoy the show. One lucky child will be randomly drawn on the night to flick the switch alongside Santa and our event hosts. Good luck! Competition closes 12pm on Tuesday 1 November. Details of the child you are entering this competition on behalf of Terms and conditions Enter on behalf of your child to meet Santa and win a chance to flick the switch and turn on Geelong’s Floating Christmas Tree on Saturday 12 November! By participating in this competition, you agree to the following terms and conditions: Competition details The promoter of this competition is the Greater Geelong City Council, 137-149 Mercer Street, Geelong VIC 3220, ABN 18 374 210 672 (City). The competition opens at 9am on Tuesday 20 September and the competition closes at 12pm on Tuesday 1 November 2022. Entries received after the closing time and date will be deemed ineligible. Entries Entry is open to residents in the City of Greater Geelong municipality. Entrants are the parents or guardians of children who must be 12 years old or under as at 12 November 2022. By entering into the competition, authorisation of parents to publish children’s first name and suburb online is given. To enter this competition, you must complete the online entry form and agree for your details to be added to our Christmas in Geelong database. Under no circumstances will the City share any entrants personal information with any third parties, partners or affiliates. By entering this competition, you warrant to the City that you are eligible to enter this competition based on these terms and conditions. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms and conditions you should not enter the competition or accept any prize resulting from entry into the competition. Employees of the City of Greater Geelong are eligible for this competition. Employees and their immediate families of the City’s Marketing Unit, Corporate Affairs Department, Love Central Geelong Unit and Events Services Unit and those directly involved with this competition are ineligible to enter. The City reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process or who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions. Failure by the City to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights. The use of false names (being names by which the entrant is not usually known) or false addresses will result in disqualification. There is no limit on the number of times you can enter this competition. Each entry must include the parent or guardian Consent Form for the nominated child. Incomplete, indecipherable or illegible entries will be deemed invalid. Prizes Twelve finalists, three from each municipal ward, will be randomly drawn at 12.30pm on Tuesday 1 November 2022 and notified by email or phone. The City reserves the right to request winners provide proof of identity and proof of residency to claim their prize. Identification considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the promoter. Each of the twelve finalists will receive one entry in the draw to select one winner to flick the switch to light the Geelong Floating Christmas tree with Santa. This draw will take place during the event at approximately 8.55pm on Saturday 12 November. Finalists must be present in the exclusive area to take part in the ‘flick of the switch’ draw. All twelve finalists can bring their immediate family into the vantage point to view with them. The winning finalist must be present on the night to claim its prize. The City retains the discretion to re-draw the prize if unclaimed or the winning entrant is not present to claim their prize. This prize is not transferable or redeemable for cash and cannot be assigned to another person. Unless otherwise stated, all costs incurred by a winner to accept or use the prize are the responsibility of the winner. Prize draw The prize draw will take place at the City’s office at 137-149 Mercer Street, Geelong, on Tuesday 1 November 2022. The method of drawing will be random. Three winners will be drawn for each of the four wards in the City of Greater Geelong. Entrants for each ward have an equal chance of being drawn. If the entry is in-complete, it will be deemed ineligible. The first 12 fully completed entries drawn will be the finalist winners. This decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. If the address included is not within the City of Greater Geelong, it will be deemed ineligible. The winners will be notified by phone and email. The prize will be provided on Saturday 12 November 2022. The finalists will be published online at www.geelongaustralia.com.au/christmas and on the Events Geelong Facebook page on Friday 4 November 2022. The prize will be deemed unclaimed if the City, despite using reasonable efforts, is not able to deliver the prize to the winner in accordance with conditions 27 and 28. If this competition is interfered with in any way, or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated, due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the City (including vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike or inclement weather), the City reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law: to disqualify any entrant or to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the competition, as appropriate. Disclaimer The City (including its officers, employees and agents) excludes all liability (including negligence) for any personal injury or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity) whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the competition, including but not limited to, the following: Any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the City’s control) Any theft, unauthorised access or third-party interference Any entry, prize or claim for a prize that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (whether before or after receipt by the City) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the City Any variation in prize value from that stated in these terms and conditions Any tax liability (including FBT) incurred by an entrant or winner or use of the prize.
