The Capture Fairfield Visual Arts & Photography Competition is now OPEN!
It’s on again! Council is on the lookout for the best artistic interpretations of Fairfield City’s landscapes, experiences and attractions as part of the annual Capture Fairfield Visual Arts & Photography Competition. This is an opportunity for the community to promote and explore Fairfield City’s diversity and natural and built environment.

Using the 2023 theme ‘Love Where You Live’, show us what you love about your City.

You could win a share in more than $8,000 in prizes!

The competition opens Monday 27 March 2023 and submissions close on Sunday 25 June 2023. The winners will be announced at the Council meeting on Tuesday 25 July 2023.



COMPETITION DATES
Submissions open Monday 27 March and close Sunday 25 June 2023. The Capture Fairfield
competition is open to residents of Fairfield City and students who attend a school within the Fairfield
Local Government Area.

THEME

Primary school aged
student
First prize: $150 + framed winners photograph
Second prize: $100
Third prize: $50
Local school prize:
If the primary school aged student first prize winner attends a
school in the Fairfield Local Government Area an additional $200
will be awarded to their school.
Secondary school aged
student
First prize: $250 + framed winners photograph
Second prize: $150
Third prize: $100
Local school prize:
If the secondary school aged student first prize winner attends a
school in the Fairfield Local Government Area an additional $200
will be awarded to their school.

Adult (18+ years)
First prize: $500 + framed winners photograph
Second prize: $250
Third prize: $150
CAPTURE FAIRFIELD PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION
The winning photographs for each theme will be on exhibition at Council’s Administration Centre and
Whitlam Library Cabramatta. The winning photographs will also be published online, on Council’s
social media and in various Council publications.
WHO CAN ENTER?
Entry is open to residents of Fairfield City and students who attend a school within the Fairfield Local
Government Area.
HOW TO ENTER
Please read the entry conditions before submitting.
ENTRY IS A THREE STEP PROCESS
1. Visit Fairfield City Council’s website www.fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au/capturefairfield
2. Complete the online entry form
3. Upload your high resolution photograph/s.
Please Note:
• Entrants may have their photo published by Council.
GUIDELINES FOR ENTRY
• Entry is open to residents of Fairfield City and students who attend a school within the
Fairfield Local Government Area.
• The photograph/s must be taken within the Fairfield City Local Government Area
• Photographs previously submitted or provided to Fairfield City Council are not eligible for
entry
• Entrants may submit a maximum of three photographs to be judged by the panel
• Photographs must be original and photographed by the entrant.
• Photographs must be submitted via the online entry form on Council’s website
• File requirements:
o Format: JPEG
o Resolution: 300dpi
o Dimensions: A minimum of 2000 pixels in width or height
• If your photograph contains people who can be identified, you will need to submit a
photography and video consent form (available on Council’s website) for each person in the
photo. If the person is under the age of 18, a parent or guardian is required to sign the
photography and video consent form on their behalf.
WINNING ENTRIES AND JUDGING
• The winners will be announced at the Council Meeting on Tuesday 25 July 2023.

JUDGING
• The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
WINNERS
• The judging panel will select the winners at the conclusion of the competition period
• Winners will be contacted via phone and/or email and will be announced on Council’s
website, City Connect and social media accounts
• Winners and a selection of finalists will have their photograph on display at the Whitlam
Library and the various Council pop-up stalls during Local Government Week.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
• The Promoter is Fairfield City Council. Australian Business Number 83 140 439 239
• Participation in this promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions and any
entry not complying with these Terms and Conditions is invalid
• Entry is open to residents of Fairfield City and students who attend a school within the
Fairfield Local Government Area. Any entrant under the age of 18 years must have their
parent or guardian’s permission to enter the promotion
• Elected Members, Officers and Employees of the Promoter, Fairfield City Council, and their
immediate families, are ineligible to enter. For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions,
“immediate family” means any of the following: spouse, parent or child
• Entrants are organised into three groups as at 1 January 2023: Primary School Aged
Student, Secondary School Aged Student and Adult (aged 18+ years)
• If a primary or secondary school student first prize winner attends a school located in the
Fairfield Local Government Area, the student’s school will receive $200 in prize money (with a
maximum of $200 awarded to any one school)
• Fairfield City Council (and Council authorised third parties) reserve the right to use
photographs of the artworks for various media formats including, but not limited to, print
media, including Council publications advertisements, calendar, websites, social media and
other digital mediums, and for exhibition purposes
• Entrants will be credited during the public exhibition, and if the photograph is reproduced at
any time
• If for any reason this promotion is not capable of running as planned, whether caused by
infection by computer virus, mobile phone failure, line drop out, bugs, tampering,
unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other cause beyond the control of
the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or integrity of the
Promotion, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify
or suspend the Promotion. The Promoter may in its sole discretion disqualify any individual
who tampers with the entry process
• The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into
• Finalists will be contacted by Monday 17 July 2023
• Finalists are responsible for their own transport to the Fairfield City Council Meeting on 25
July 2023
• Total prize pool for the photography category is $2250
• The Promoter retains the absolute discretion to require a winner to provide Photo ID before
awarding the prize
