All-around legend and friend of Flow, Mitch Docker, recently took on this wild ride, loosely tracing New Zealand’s Highway 35. Over five-and-a-half days, this all-terrain gravel epic led him through some of the most remote, raw, and downright spectacular corners of the North Island’s East Coast.

Now, we’ve teamed up with Tairāwhiti Gisborne Tourism to give you the chance to follow in Mitch’s tyre tracks. Fly in, stash your bike bag at the airport, and roll straight into some of the best gravel riding Aotearoa has to offer.
There is so much diversity in the terrain and scenery along this route. The distances each day are achievable, and you only have to rough it if you want to.

Flow’s Ride 35 Gisborne Getaway Promotion:

The exact prize is:

    $1,000 travel voucher to put towards flights to Gisborne, NZ
    Accommodation for two following at the following:
        One night at the Motu Community House
        One night at the Te Kaha Resort Hotel
        One night at the Te Araroa Campground
        One night at the Post Office B&B in Tokomaru Bay
        One night at the Tatapouri Bay Oceanside Accommodation in Gisborne

Total prize value: $3000 AUD. This prize is not redeemable for cash and must be redeemed within 12 months.

The prize cannot be redeemed during the months of December 2025  or January 2026.

Any additional nights accommodation will be at the cost of the winner. The itinerary can be run in reverse, however nights cannot be swapped or accumulated.

This prize will include the cost of dinner for two at each location. Other meals will be at the winners expense.
