How to enter

To enter, entrants must:

(a)            Buy a minimum of one (1) copy of a Relevant Newspaper during the Promotion Period or be a paying digital subscriber to a Relevant Newspaper on at least one (1) day during the Promotion Period and find the codeword inside the newspaper; and

(b)           Scan the QR code printed on the codeword ad inside the newspaper or visit the Promotion website and complete the online entry form in accordance with the instructions on that website including by providing the requested essential information and the correct daily codeword published in the paper on the day of entering the competition.

The cost of accessing the promotional website will be dependent on the entrant’s individual Internet Service Provider.

To be eligible, entrants need to have bought a Relevant Newspaper on at least one (1) day in the Promotion Period and therefore need either to be able to provide the physical copies of the Relevant Newspaper on request by the Promoter, or have been a paying digital or home delivery subscriber to a Relevant Newspaper on the date of entry into the Promotion.

Entrants can enter up to 22 times (with a maximum of 44 chances) and each entry must use the codeword that has been published in the paper on the day of entering. One entry per person is permitted per day.

2.              Enter the codeword online at winwithnews.com.au.

3.              Fill in the entry form to enter the competition.

4.              Enter 3 or more times to unlock double entries.

Note: The first two codewords are worth one entry each, with every codeword that follows doubling the total number  of entries into the draw.

For example:

1st codeword = 1 entry, 2nd codeword = 2 entries, 3rd codewords = 6 entries … 10th codeword = 20 entries, 22nd codeword = 44 entries.

Maximum total entries: 44.

Details of the prize draw

To be drawn by Engage Interactive by random computer selection at 12:00pm (Sydney, Australia time) on Friday, December 12 2025 at 24 Washpool Crescent, Woongarrah NSW 2259, Australia in the presence of a scrutineer. Electronic Draw Approval Number: SA #860. The Promoter may draw additional reserve entries and record them in order in case an invalid entry or ineligible entrant is drawn. A draw for a prize, if unclaimed, may take place at 12:00pm (Sydney, Australia time) on Monday, January 12 2025 at the same time and place as the original draw, subject to any directions from a regulatory authority.

Terms and Conditions

General

1.     The above Particulars and information on how to enter and prizes forms part of the terms of entry. Entry into the Promotion is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions. If there is any inconsistency between these terms and conditions and anything else that refers to this Promotion, these terms and conditions prevail.

Who can enter?

2.     Entry is open to all residents of Australia (except WA) over the age of 18 except employees and immediate families of the Promoter or Nationwide News Pty Ltd (ABN 98 008 438 828) or any publisher of an Eligible Newspaper and their associated companies and agencies.  Immediate family includes the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de facto spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step parent, grandparent, step grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step brother, step sister or first cousin.

3.     Entrants must be 18 years of age or olderas at the date of entry in order to be eligible to enter the competition.

4.     The Promoter reserves the right at its sole discretion to request winners to provide proof of identity, proof of residency at the nominated prize delivery address and/or proof of entry validity or proof of registration ownership in order to claim a prize. If a winner cannot provide suitable proof, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered.

When to enter

5.     The Promotion commences at 12:01am (Sydney, Australia time) on Sunday, November 16 2025 and ends at 11:59pm (Sydney, Australia time) on Sunday, November 07 2025 (the “Promotion period”). Entries must be received by the Promoter prior to the competition close date and time.

6.     The time of entry will in each case be the time the online entry is received by the Promoter’s database, not at the time of transmission by the entrant.

7.     Promoter accepts no responsibility for any late, lost, misdirected, delayed, ineligible, incomplete or corrupted entries or delays in the delivery of entries due to technical disruptions, network congestion or for any other reason. SMS entries via the internet or computer generation and not attributable to a valid mobile phone account are invalid and will not be accepted.

How to Enter

8.     To enter to win a ‘Major Prize’ or a ‘Minor Prize’ (the “Promotion” or “Competition”), individuals must:

a)     Buy a minimum of one (1) copy of a Relevant Newspaper (as defined at Clause 12) between Sunday, November 16 and Sunday, December 07 2025 inclusive (the “Live Promotion Period”) or be a paying digital subscriber to a Relevant Newspaper on at least one (1) day during the Promotion Period;

b)     Find the codeword printed in the newspaper on the day they want to enter the Competition;

c)     Scan the Newspaper QR code or visit the Promotion website at WinWithNews.com.au and complete the online entry form in accordance with the instructions on that website including by providing requested essential information and the correct daily codeword published in the paper on the day of entering the Competition.

9.     To be eligible, entrants need to have bought a Relevant Newspaper on the day they enter the Competition and therefore need either to be able to provide the physical copies of the Relevant Newspaper on request by the Promoter for the relevant date of entry, or have been a paying digital or home delivery subscriber to a Relevant Newspaper on the relevant date of entry into the Competition.

10.  Enter 3 or more times to double entries into the draw: when an entrant validly enters the competition three or more days throughout the Promotion Period, they will receive an additional entry into the draw for each day they validly entered the competition. For example, if an entrant enters the competition on 7 different days, they will receive 14 entries into the draw. However if they only enter the competition on 2 different days, they will only receive 2 entries into the draw.

11.  Entrants can enter up to 22 times and each entry must use the codeword that has been published in the Relevant Newspaper on the day of entering. A maximum of one entry per person is permitted per day.

13.   The cost of accessing www.WinWithNews.com.au will be dependent on the entrant’s individual Internet Service Provider.  Each individual can enter no more than once each day.

14.  Any entry that is made on behalf of an entrant by a third party will be invalid, unless the entrant requires the assistance of a third party to enter due to a disability.

15.  The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant, invalidate their entries and claim to any prize where such entrant tampers with the entry process, who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions or who has, in the opinion of Promoter, engaged in conduct in entering the Promotion which is fraudulent, misleading, deceptive or generally damaging to the goodwill or reputation of the Promotion and/or Promoter.  This includes, but not limited to, entrants and households using multiple email addresses, postal addresses, PO Box addresses or SIM cards to register single or multiple purchases.

16.  The Promoter has sole discretion to determine if these terms and conditions have been breached by any entrant. The Promoter reserves the right to request whatever documentation it deems necessary to confirm or deny its suspicions in this regard and any failure to provide such requested documentation to the Promoter on request gives Promoter the right to disqualify the entrant. The Promoter’s legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from any offender are reserved.

Draw and Notification of winner

17.  This is a game of chance. Skill plays no part in determining the winner.

18.  The prize draw will take place at Engage Interactive by random computer selection at 12:00pm (Sydney, Australia time) on Friday, December 12 2025at 24 Washpool Crescent Woongarrah NSW 2259, Australia in the presence of a scrutineer. Electronic Draw Approval Number: SA#860. There will be ten (10) ‘Major Prize’ winners and sixty (60) ‘Minor Prize’ winners drawn from the pool of entries submitted over the course of the promotion.  The Promoter may draw additional reserve entries and record them in order in case an invalid entry or ineligible entrant is drawn. A draw for a prize, if unclaimed, may take place at 12:00pm (Sydney, Australia time) on Monday, January 12 2025  at the same time and place as the original draw, subject to any directions from a regulatory authority.

19.  All winners will be notified in writing within seven (07) business days of the draw and their name will be announced online at www.WinWithNews.com.au by Saturday, December 20 2025. The winner’s first initial, last name and postcode will be published in The Weekend Australian newspaper onSaturday, December 20 2025.

20.  Winners of any unclaimed prize draw will also be notified in writing within seven (7) business days of the unclaimed prize draw and their first initial, last name and postcode of the winner(s) of any unclaimed prize draw will be published in The Weekend Australian newspaper within 14 business days of the unclaimed prize draw.

21.  Subject to the unclaimed prize draw clause, if for any reason the winner does not take/redeem the prize (or an element of a prize) at or by the time stipulated by the Promoter, then the prize (or that element of the prize) will be forfeited.

22.  If any particular draw is scheduled on a public holiday, the draw will be conducted on the following business day.

23.  The Promoter’s decision is final, and the Promoter will not enter into correspondence regarding the competition result or any other decisions the Promoter makes in connection with the Promotion.

24.  Prizes will be awarded to the person named in the entry.  However, in a dispute, it will be awarded to the account holder of the entry mechanism used to submit their entry (i.e. mobile phone account holder or Internet Service Provider account holder).

25.  Should an entrant’s contact details change during the Promotional Period, it is the entrant's responsibility to notify the Promoter. A request to access or modify any information provided in an entry should be directed to the Promoter.

Prize on Offer

26.  Total prize pool value of $50,000 AUD. There will be seventy (70) winners in total; ten (10) ‘Major Prize’ winners and sixty (60) ‘Minor Prize’ winners.

27.  ‘Major Prizes’:
Ten (10) x $2000 AUD IGA Gift Cards to be won nationally.

28.  ‘Minor Prizes’:

        Sixty (60) x $500 AUD IGA Gift Cards to be won nationally.

29. ‘Minor Prizes’:

       Sixty (60) x $500 AUD IGA Gift Cards to be won nationally.

30. If the Particulars specify a time/date by which a Prize must be taken, then if a winner does not take the prize by that stipulated time/date, then the entire prize will be forfeited by the winner.

Prize Clauses

29.  A maximum of one prize can be awarded to any one person who has entered the Competition.

30.  Gift vouchers are subject to the terms and conditions imposed by the gift card provider. Once awarded, the Promoter is not liable for any voucher that has been lost, stolen, forged, damaged or tampered with in any way.

31.  Subject to complying with all relevant State and Territory legislation, the Promoter reserves the right to amend, cancel or suspend this competition if an event beyond the control of the Promoter corrupts or affects the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the competition.  The Promoter will disqualify any individual who has tampered with the entry process or any other aspect of this competition.

32.  The Promoter and their associated agencies and companies assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available.

33.  If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned, including (without limitation) due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any causes beyond the control of the Promoter, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to take any action that may be available, and (without limitation) to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition, subject to any direction given under State Regulation.

34.  Any entrant found to be using any form of software or third party application to enter multiple times (including scripting software) will have all entries invalidated and any claim to any prize will be invalidated.  If such an entrant is awarded a prize and then found to have breached this clause, the entrant must immediately return any awarded prize to the Promoter.  The Promoter has sole discretion to determine if this clause has been breached by any entrant.  The Promoter reserves the right to request whatever documentation it deems necessary to confirm if the entrant has breached this clause.  An entrant must provide any requested documentation to the Promoter upon request.    

35.  An entrant may not use a third party (including online competition entry site) to enter on their behalf, except where the entrant needs to use those services of that third party to enter due to a disability. If the preceding sentence has been breached, the entrant will have all entries invalidated, any claim to any prize will be invalidated and where such an entrant has already been awarded a prize before being found to have breached this clause, the entrant must immediately return any awarded prize to the Promoter.  The Promoter has sole discretion to determine if this clause has been breached by any entrant.  The Promoter reserves the right to request whatever documentation it deems necessary to confirm if the entrant has breached this clause. An entrant must provide any requested documentation to the Promoter upon request.

36.  If the prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for a prize of equal or greater value, subject to State and Territory legislation.  It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner must comply with all the conditions of use of the prize and prize supplier’s requirements.  Each prize must be taken as stated and no compensation will be payable if a winner is unable to use the prize as stated.

37.  The Promoter will make reasonable efforts to deliver prizes to the addresses provided by competition entrants. If a prize is returned to the Promoter because it could not be delivered to the address provided, the Promoter cannot guarantee that it will be able to resend the prize to the prize winner.  The Promoter and its associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any damage to or delay in transit of prizes.

Copyright, Statutory Guarantees, Waiver and Liability

38.  In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly hinders the Promoter’s ability to proceed with the competition on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the competition and recommence it from the start on the same conditions, subject to any directions given under State Regulation.  

39.  The Promoter does not exclude any rights and remedies in respect of goods or services under the Australian Consumer Law in the Competition and Consumer Act (2010) (Australian Consumer Law) which cannot be excluded, restricted or modified.  However, the remainder of this clause will apply to the fullest extent permitted by law and the Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with any prize/s except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.  The Promoter is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, either caused by the entrant or for any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in this competition, or for any technical error, or any combination thereof that may occur in the course of the administration of this competition including any omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line or telephone, mobile or satellite network failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of entries.    

40.  The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the promotion.  The Promoter’s legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.

41.  All entries become the property of the Promoter (with the exception of any intellectual property rights comprising therein).  The Promoter collects personal information about you for the purposes of conducting this promotion.  Any disclosure of such information will be made as required by law and in accordance with these terms and conditions but no further use of this information will be made without prior consent.    

42.  All entries become the property of The Promoter (with the exception of any intellectual property rights comprised therein) and the Promoter may use the entrant’s names, addresses and telephone numbers for future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes in any media worldwide without notice and without any fee being paid unless otherwise advised by the entrant.  By entering, entrants confirm that they allow their details to be used for this purpose.

43.  The Idea Shed Pty Ltd (ABN 32 162 123 391), on behalf of the Promoter and Nationwide News Pty Ltd Companies, collects personal information in order to conduct the competition and administer the Prizes and may, for this purpose, disclose such information to third parties. Entry is conditional on providing this information.

44.  If entrants opt in for this to occur then their personal information provided as part of the entry process will be shared with Nationwide News Pty Ltd companies who may use the information for promotional, marketing, publicity, research and profiling purposes, including sending electronic messages to the entrants. This information will be used in accordance with the News Corp Australia privacy policy which can be found at: https://preferences.news.com.au/privacy. The Nationwide News Pty Ltd Privacy Policy  includes important information about their collection, use and disclosure of your personal information (including to provide you with targeted advertising based on your online activities). It also explains how you can access or seek correction of your personal information, how you can complain about a breach of the Australian Privacy Principles and how Nationwide News Pty Ltd companies will deal with a complaint of that nature. 45.  The laws of NSW apply to this promotion to the exclusion of any other law. The winner submits to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of NSW.
