For an unassuming mollusc that spends its days clinging to rocks and filtering saltwater, the oyster sure has found itself in prime standing in modern fine-dining culture. The humble, briny beastie has cemented itself as a tableside snack that can be luxurious and also affordable, and it's hidden complexities are taking centre stage during an exclusive Vivid-adjacent event at Shell House this June.

An official part of Vivid Sydney's culinary program, Oysters in the House will celebrate the freshest oysters that Australia has to offer across multiple levels of Shell House. 14 of the best oyster farmers in the state will be attending, including prestigious farms like Wapengo Organic Oysters, Narooma's Rutter Oysters and the Sapphire-Coast-hailing Sweetwater Oysters — all perfectly paired with wines from nine of the Hunter Valley's leading Semillon producers.

Your ticket will get you access to tastings, shucking demonstrations, a limited-time themed snack menu, pop-up bars and more — and we're giving away not one, but two tickets for you to take part.

Welcoming many names and talents from the East Coast Oyster trail, this roam-and-snack experience is split across two sessions on Sunday, June 7 (12 to 3pm and 3.30 to 6.30pm). You can also take your pick of three available masterclasses to join during your visit.

First is a deep dive into the diversity of NSW's oysters by region, with a lineup of farmers presenting their oyster varietals alongside a complimentary glass of Semillon. Otherwise, there's a lesson in pairing presented by PJ Charteris, with three styles of Hunter Valley Semillon paired with Sydney Rock Oysters. Your third and final option? A masterclass in making a perfect oyster-accompanying martini, hosted by Archie Rose.

Information on how to enter to win a double pass to ‘Oysters in the House’ for
completing and submitting the entry form as part of these terms and conditions.
By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
ELIGIBILITY
● Entry is open to residents in Sydney only, aged 18 years and over.
● Employees and their immediate families of the Promoter and its agencies
associated with this Promotion are ineligible to enter.
ENTRY
● The Promotion commences on Tuesday 26th May, 2026 at 9am AEST and
closes on Sunday 31st May 2026, at 11:59pm AEST (“Promotional Period”). No
entries will be accepted outside of the Entry Period.
● To enter, all participants must complete;
○ Visit the competition page on the Concrete Playground website.
○ Submit an answer to the 25 words or less (25 WOL) question
provided “Tell us in 25 words or less what’s your perfect oyster
serve?”.
○ Complete the entry form with all required contact details, including
but not limited to name, email address, and any other fields
specified.
● Entries must be received by the Promoter during the Promotional Period
only.
● All entries are deemed to be received at the time of receipt by the
Promoter, not the time of transmission by the Entrant. Records of the
Promoter and its agencies are final and conclusive as to the time of receipt.
● Duplicate or incomplete entries may be disqualified at the Promoter’s
discretion.
● By entering the promotion, entrants acknowledge that if they are not
located in Sydney only, they cannot redeem the prize.
PRIZES
● The total (individual) prize value is AUD$85.00. The total prize pool is
AUD$170.00. Each winner will receive a two tickets, including;
○ Access to the general event session of their choice, Oysters in the
House – a Sydney Rock Oyster & NSW Semillon celebration for Vivid
Sydney 2026 valued at up to AUD$35.00 per ticket. Tickets grant
access to one session, to choose from below:
■ When: Sunday 7 June 2026
■ Where: Shell House, 37 Margaret St, Sydney NSW 2000
● Session 1: 12:00pm – 3:00pm, OR
● Session 2: 3:30pm – 6:30pm
○ Choice of one of the below masterclasses to experience during the
general event valued at up to AUD$50.00 per ticket. Tickets grant
access to one option, to choose from below:
■ Masterclass 1: Deep Dive into 'Merroir': Sydney Rock Oysters,
OR
■ Masterclass 2: A Perfect Pairing, OR
■ Masterclass 3: Martini & Oyster Masterclass
Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash. The Promoter
reserves the right to substitute any prize with an item of equal or greater value if
the advertised prize becomes unavailable for any reasons beyond the Promoter’s
control.
JUDGING AND THE WINNER/S
● This Promotion is a game of skill. Chance plays no part in determining the
winner(s). Each valid entry will be judged individually on its merits by the
Promoter. The winning entries will best satisfy the content criteria as
determined by the Promoter.
● The Promoter will select one Winner at 12pm AEST Monday, 1st June 2026
from all eligible entries submitted during the Entry Period.

● To be eligible for the draw, entries must be submitted by 11:59pm AEST
Sunday, 31st May 2026. The Promoter will notify the Winners by email
within 24 hours of the draw. The Winners will be asked to send the
Promoter a reply email to formally accept the prize and provide proof of
age.
● The Judges’ decision will be final and binding and no correspondence with
entrants or any other person will be entered into.
● If the Winners cannot be notified (including where emails are returned
‘undeliverable’), or does not make contact with the Promoter within 96
hours of notification, or cannot be verified (including where a winner
cannot provide proof of age), or is otherwise unable to accept the Prize,
their selection as the Winners may be forfeited and an alternative winner
may be drawn, in the Promoter’s sole discretion. No financial or other
consideration will be awarded to the forfeiter.
