Australian Competitions Club

I am extremely excited to announce one of the biggest changes to the CompingClub website since this club started five years ago.

Over these past years members have often asked us to make some changes or introduce some new features to make this site more informative, easier to use and to generally make comping more enjoyable.
For the most part, we've satisfied those requests.

However, there have been a number of requests that we could not accommodate without extensive modification to the software.

After months of planning and endless hours of coding we are on the verge of launching the CompingClub CompFolio Suite which includes most of the features our members have been requesting.

Thanks for this Admin, and let me tell you that we all appreciate the time, patience, effort, hair-pulling and sleepless nights that went into this wonderful new addition to ACC. :)  Certainly makes me glad I made my contribution. ;)

I love the fact that you can mark each comp you've entered. I often find that I forget whether I enter some comps so this feature will be worth it's weight in gold.

Oooh oooh oooh...so excited i went and made a contribution straight away!  I've been meaning to do it for ages but this spurred me on!  BTW peeps it is SO easy to do...just click on make a contribution support ACC in the box to your left...spotted it? good  Then you can make a contribution from 3 suggested amounts via paypal voila!  Admin you rock!! 

Mininesslyn, I agree, I find when i go through the comp calendar once a week there are a load of comps that i can't remember whether i've entered or not.  Sometimes i've put a response in the thread, in which case I know i've entered but you can't really do that for EVERY comp you enter!!

CompFolio is now up and running!

A few members are already using it and if you don't know what it is, click on the 'My CompFolio Suite' link on the left of the page.
There are a few screen shots and a quick run-through on how it works and how you can have it activated.

Admin it is my turn to say thank you! I am so enjoying marking/organising my comps. I come across so many comps everyday that I never knew if there were entered before or not. No need to waste my time thinking about it anymore, I spend that time entering ones I know I haven't entered.

I'm very excited to say.............. I've just marked my first comp as "won" in the compfolio.  How cool is that! Thanks admin, your work is always amazing :D

Please remember to send a PM to Administrator asking for CompFolio if you want it.
It doesn't have to be long, just something like:

"I made a contribution under the name of XXXXX and I would like to have Compfolio enabled please."

Because we use nicknames on this site, we don't know what member account to activate it for if you don't send a PM.

Once you have made a contribution, you can pm admin here

I love, love, love this new feature!  It makes comping so much easier!  I work quite a lot and found I was wasting so much time searching through comps that weren't in my state or I wasn't interested in and comping was gettting a bit time consuming but this is fantastic, I feel so organised now!  Thank you so much admin!

Is a way of having a trial for so many logons before you pay

Compfolio is only offered to contributing members.
When it's activated a personal profile is created which keeps a record of what competitions you've marked and your personalised searches.
It's not practical to create profiles then delete them after a short period of time.

CompFolio users can now mark Competitions with NO Closing Date - Freebies - Samples  and Closed Freebies.
Previously these could not be marked because there was no closing date but the problem has now been overcome.

The ability to use Compfolio on Freebies and Samples means you can now keep track of all the giveaways you've asked for and received without being confused if you've asked for them previously.
There are hundreds of freebies on the site at the moment and there is no reason why you should miss out.

Just a tip for Compfolio users.

Where ever you have marked a comp you can click on the mark icon itself and you will be taken straight to Compfolio's Compminder and shown all the other competitions you have marked with the same mark.

Compfolio Update
Compfolio users can now keep track of how much they have won for each winning competition!

To assign a prize value to a competition open up Compfolio and click on the "Comps Won" icon (the dollar sign) in the CompMinder box.
The last column of each entry you have marked as won has a hash symbol (#) - click on it and enter your win value.
To record your win value click somewhere else or press the Tab key.

You can check your value by refreshing the page. Your total personal prize value will also be updated.

When entering values, remember to only use numbers and the decimal place for cents.
If you type any other character your value will not be recorded.
To reset a value to $0.00 just type in 0 (zero) as your win amount.


This has been a much sought after request and I hope it makes keeping track of you wins a lot easier.

One question though,

For comps such as cleo that had many daily prizes, when i enter an amount it puts that amount in for each day, which then makes the total win amount wrong.

Is there anyway aroud this?

The prize value you allocate is for the competition, not the closing date.

A competition with multiple closing dates is a singe competition although each closing date of that competition is shown separately.
Because it's actually just one competition, the prize value you record for winning that competition will be total prize value - irrespective of the number of closing dates that competition had.

For example:
You enter a comp that runs for 4 weeks and there was a prize drawn each week. That comps will be shown to have 4 closing dates.
Say you win $100 the first week and nothing the other three weeks - your total prize value is obviously $100 for that whole competition.
You want to register your wins so you open CompFolio, find your comp and enter in your $100 prize value (because that's all you won for the whole comp)
You will notice that $100 is shown as the win everywhere that comp is listed.
However, your Total Prize value will not increase by $400, it will only increase by $100 - because that's all you won for that competition.

You can only enter the prize value for the comp once the whole competition is closed so that's all you need to enter - the amount you won for the whole competition.

If you would like to add a prize value for each draw interval then each draw of the same comp would have to be entered as a seperate comp on it's own when members post competitions.
This would be very confusing when posting comps. We would have to post every draw interval as a seperate comp, but then how do we calculate the total prize value for that interval only? - it's impossible.

So to sum things up, enter in the total amount you won FOR THAT WHOLE COMPETITION
The total prize value should add up correctly, give it a go.

I've just done the prize values for all the comps that i've won that I could find. It's a great feature Admin, thank you.

Compfolio Notice.
Compfolio users will notice that there are some new Maintenance options when viewing comps marked as 'Not Interested' and "Revisit'.
This purpose of this is to be able to easily remove old marks you don't need anymore without clicking 'remove' on each individual comp mark.

This code is not finished yet, so please ignore it for the time being.

I have just made a contribution and have sent a pm to the administrator.......

here's my solution till Admin comes up with something else....

you enter $10

your total goes up by $120

you then divide 120 by 10

you then get 12 so then you know there was 12 draws

you then divide your original $10 winnings by 12

and you will have an amount that when you type it in will end up the right amount

teash you really know how to complicate something that's realy simple.
You don't need to calculate anything, just type in the winning amount.

Try this:
Add this comp as a win: http://compingclub.com/index.php?topic=108511.0 - it has 28 draws.

Take note of your total win amount.
Say you won $100 out of this comp, find the comp and enter in 100 as your win.
Refresh the page and have a look at the total, it will only go up by $100 not $2800

I simply cannot believe how AWESOME CompFolio is!

I really did think I was keeping up with all the new comps, but my first quick test search showed up HEAPS of comps I'd somehow missed.

I have had a very organising time today - creating my own searches, entering comps & generally being in comping heaven - all thanks to CompFolio!

CompFolio now keeps track of the delivery of prizes as well as competitions.

With so many wins it may be difficult to remember if the prize you won has actually arrived.
Members using CompFolio can now mark competitions as "Waiting for Prize" or "Prize Received".

This option is availiable for competitions that have ended and for competitions that don't have a closing date.

I had lost interest in comping recently and found searching through all the treads tedious. This new feature has made me feel excited about comping again. First class job!

A big thank you to Admin for the prompt response. I was given immediate access once my notification was sent. Really fast and have already got stuck into entering and setting up searches.

This is fantastic, it makes tracking my comps so much easier. This site just keeps on getting better and better.

The Compfolio Maintenance utility is now working.
This means you can run a mass purge (or delete) of old 'Not Interested' and 'Revisit' marks which you've set without having to remove each mark individually.
I've run some tests and everything seems to work OK, but I'd like some feedback from members who would like to check it out and don't really care if things go wrong.

Remember, if you use this feature there is no way of getting the marks back, they are gone for good.

So if anybody wants to check it out, just open up Compfolio and in the CompMinder section click on either 'Not Interested' or 'Comps to Revisit' - you will see the maintenance utility box.

I just removed 191 not interested with no probs, keep up the great work I love compfolio, best thing since sliced bread...lol

i've used it a few times and had no problems at all - i'm using to delete 'not interested' from expired comps and it works fine for me  :D

I have to fix the 'remove where the comp has expired' option - that's why I've removed that option, but the rest should be ok

Thanks admin for Compfolio and all the work you do for ACC. Since I joined compfolio I have saved myself so much frustration. I used to open all these comps that were finishing today, only to find I was not interested in entering them. Now I click them once and never waste time looking at them again. I love everything about this new program, but I really must take time to see everything it can do!!!

just wanted to also add that having compfolio you dont have to worry about our comps being listed in more than one section. If a competition allows you to enter online and via sms, the competition will be listed only once and therefor you won't have to search other sections to see if it is listed there too. :D  Just mark it as entered and that's another entry done  :lol:

Members that are using Compfolio will be happy to know that we've introduced another feature to make your comping easier!

In line with recently introducing Prize Categories, you can now use CompSearch to find the competitions that are offering the prizes you want to win.
There is a new drop-down box near the bottom titled 'Prize Category'
Just select the type of prize you are after and hit the search button.

This is a fantastic new feature for those looking for that illusive prize.
It will save you an awful lot of time going through the thousands of comps we have listed.

Something odd has happened with my CompFolio. Expired competitions are no longer becoming 'shaded', and the column entitled 'Mark' is therefore not displaying symbols like $ and the little clock to indicate waiting on a prize. Any advice?
