Title: I won the Paul Newman's Own Home Cooking Competition! Post by: Jasmine1485 on Tuesday 22 September 2009, 11:41:44 am I got a phone call this morning from the Kerri Anne show right before the segment where they announced the winner, and they put me through to Kerri Anne and Mike Moore and said I had won! Next month I'll be flying to Sydney, staying in a hotel and going on Kerri Anne to cook my recipe with Lindey Milan. I'll also be visiting Mike Moore's restaurant, Summit for a meal :D So excited, I couldn't stop shaking for ages after I got off the phone. Now I just need to work out the value of the prize :P Thank you to anyone who voted for my recipe and again to Snuggle1 for posting the competition originally :)

Eveready, Jasmine is actually my cat's name :) I was very nervous on the phone, I just hoped afterwards that I hadn't come off as a raving lunatic lol, but my dad was watching with me and he said it was fine. I'm thinking I need to go buy a new memory card for my camera because I am gonna take SOOO many photos! :D

Post by: Jasmine1485 on Tuesday 22 September 2009, 10:11:58 pm I don't think there will be any more prizes but it's exciting enough as it is :) I'm definitely not a chef by trade, just someone who likes to cook at home and loves to eat. I'm halfway through a nutrition degree at uni, but I developed the recipe before I started that, I just like experimenting with food. I'd love to be a food writer one day though, and this seems like a good start :) Thank you for your kind words, I'm sure I'll have lots of fun!

Post by: Jasmine1485 on Thursday 08 October 2009, 03:46:04 pm Hey everyone :) Just letting you know that my segment will be on tomorrow morning on 'Mornings with Kerri Anne'. The show goes from 9-11am, but I'll be on a little before 10.20am. It'll be in two parts, with an infomercial between the two I think. It was great fun, and I was quite pleased (as a long-time viewer of cooking shows and segments) that I got to use those tiny bowls for ingredients AND I got to 'prepare something earlier'! :D That amused me greatly, I'll admit.

One set up with play dough. About a minute before the segment both kids downed tools to come and run around lounge and fight and squeal! Aahhhh! So I watched it.......sort of......well done Jasmine....the pork meat balls looked delish...

I was very nervous prior to doing it, but I had so much to focus on that I sort of forgot to be nervous while we were filming lol. I was too busy making sure I said what all the ingredients were and that I didn't accidentally bounce a meatball off the counter. Everyone was really nice to me though and very encouraging, which helped a lot. I can't find it on their website, at least not yet. I was even nervous before it was on this morning lol, because I hadn't seen it played back until I saw it myself on TV. The whole thing though, was just an experience of a lifetime - going out to dinner at the Summit, meeting Mike Moore and doing the show. I even got to meet Grant Hackett while he was there and he was nice enough to pose for a photo with me. Kerri Anne was lovely and happy to pose for some photos with me and was very complimentary of me and my meatballs. I have SO many photos! Thanks again to everyone for voting, watching and leaving lovely messages on here, it was really nice to feel that support. :D
