Title: My Husband won a trip to England
Post by: april3577317 on Tuesday 09 February 2010, 01:02:29 am
My husband won the channel Ten Wolfman competition, a lady rang today said they had over thirty thousand entries  , still can't believe we won. First major win. I would like to get your opinions, do you think they would allow us to take our son who is around two years old if we cover his expenses otherwise he will have to stay with his grandmother, the trip is for 4 days.

Thanks to everyone who post comps, this is a great site.  :D

Congratulations april (and hubby lol)

I'd check with the travel agent organising the prize - I'm pretty sure I've heard that sometimes they'll allow you to pay the extra for children (when I won a trip to Byron Bay I enquired about doing that and they said that would be fine - ended up leaving her with aunty so we could have a naughty long weekend away LOL)

Enjoy your trip!!!  :D

Congratulations!  I'd be also seeing if I could extend the trip, 4 days isn't long enough really. Have a good trip whatever you decide. Would love to know if his winning entry was on SMS or online.

It was a online entry, we did not enter any SMS entries. I agree with you, I would like to extend the trip.

As an ex-travel agent. I would presume that the more you want to spend, the happier the travel agent will be. Of course, there are limitations, such as available seats etc. The ticket to Europe won't be limited to a 4 day stay and you may want to enquire if there are any cheap or free side trips or stopovers attached to the airfare. My suggestion is to ask for everything you want and see what you get. The promoter is unlikely to be involved once the travel agent takes over. I could be wrong  :D Cheers

Fantastic win!!!

A lot of people will say 'it's a long way to go for 4 days' however we did a 3 nighter in France last year and we just had the best time! It is amazing what you can fit into a short time. In saying this we left the kids home with grandparents.  If you take your young one you may need longer to adjust.

Either way have a fab time!

Congratulations - that's awesome. I love it when people on here win - it's kind of like my family winning :-)

I won a trip years ago and they let me extend it a little to see family who live in Melbourne (that's where the trip was), they just paid what the prize provided - airfare, specified accomodation etc.  So hopefully they'll let you do the same!

Congrats! Wow! 18 months ago we won a 8 day trip to Italy. Free2travel was the agent and they were great. They told me that they handle all the competition travel. We asked if we could add on a side trip to Scotland, because I have my family there, and it was no trouble. We paid the extra travel only and added 16 extra days to the trip as well. They allowed us to take our children as well, however we decided not to in the end as it got too pricey. They are very flexible, and nothing was too much trouble. We spent 3 days in London as well and it just wasn't long enough. :D

Congratulations! That's a great win.

Whether you can take the kiddies will depend on the promoter. There's no harm in asking.

I won a 5-day holiday to England a few years back. I had neither the leave or the money to extend the trip. A lot of people said to me that it was a long way to travel to only be there five days. However, it was a good holiday and long enough to have a good look at London. We even took the Eurostar to Paris for one afternoon. I'd definitely recommend checking out Paris or taking side trips while you're over there since airfares are cheap. I'm sure you'll have a good time. If you have the money to extend the trip then that would be worth doing, if not I'll sure you'll have fun in the time you have available. Enjoy!

Big congrats ! What an amazing win! Try to take your 2 year old and arrange to catch the Eurostar directly across to Paris Disneyland. We did that with my son when he was 2 and he had a fantastic time! Enjoy yourself whatver you decide to do.
