9 Jul - FREE Plants on Saturday for Blacktown Residents
Details:  The Blacktown City Council Nursery will open on three Saturdays this year - 9 April, 9July and 22 October between 9am - 12noon to give residents extra opportunities to collect their allocated two free plants per year.
Council's nursery normal business hours are 9am to 3pm Tuesday to Friday; however the Nursery will open on these Saturdays especially for residents who are unable to collect their free plants from the Nursery during normal opening times.
Council's friendly Nursery staff will be on hand to offer tips and advice on which plants will suit your garden.
'Council has a strong commitment to the greening of Blacktown City and our Nursery offers the local community a chance to beautify their gardens with the free plants', Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Alan Pendleton said.
Each financial year Blacktown City residents are entitled to collect two free plants from the Nursery to plant around their homes.
'These extra days are a great way to get your gardens ready for Spring and our friendly Nursery staff will be onsite to offer you tips on what plants will work best for you', Mayor Pendleton continued.
Residents who visit the Nursery for their free plants, need to provide proof of residency.
Council's Nursery is located in the Blacktown Showground (entry via Kent Street, Blacktown).
There will also be more opportunities to collect free plants in 2011 with the annual Travelling Plant Giveaway and the Local Government Week Free Plant Giveaways taking place in August and September across the Local Government Area.
