AUSTRIAN WINE SCHOLARSHIP 2012 (NATIONAL) It is a great pleasure to announce an exciting event to start off the New Year. The Austrian Wine Marketing Board and importers of Austrian wines to Australia are offering an opportunity to win a scholarship to Austria in 2012. There will be 4 places to win, with one scholar being named the Australian Ambassador for Austrian wine 2012 / 2013. This competition is open to anyone who is working as a wine professional in either a licensed on-premise venue or in wine retail to enter. To enter, this is what you will need to do: · Contact Andreas Puhar from Enoteca Sydney on 0409 142 800 or comida@bigpond.com for an application form and return either by post, fax or email (details on application form). · Entry closes strictly on February 1st, 2012. · participate in a tasting seminar which will be followed by a short exam. o SYDNEY: Monday 20th February o BRISBANE: Wednesday 22nd February o MELBOURNE: Monday 27th February o PERTH: Wednesday 29th February · you must have a valid passport · you must be available to travel to Austria between the dates of 31st May and 7th June, 2012. As there is a program of events to attend in Austria, the scholarship prize is not transferable to other dates or to other persons. Winners of a place in the Austrian scholarship program will have an amazing opportunity to experience the wine and culture of Austria first hand. Scholars will travel to Vienna to attend Vie Vinum, Austria's premier wine trade event held every 2 years, which showcases over 400 Austrian producers. Following Vie Vinum will be a program of guided regional tours and tutored tastings, visiting some of Austria's great estates and meeting the winemakers. A top scholar from the trip will be announced, judged on their participation and exercises set during the program.
