HOW TO PLAY:
Watch the daily video clue and tag the secret location on the map for your chance to win a share of $150,000.
There will be a new game running each weekday until 20 August 2012. Each new game will start at 1100am AEST and finish at 1000am AEST the next day.
The location and winner will be revealed by email at the end of each game.
PICKING A LOCATION:
Use the map to find the secret location. When you think you're close, drop a tag on the map and submit your selection. If you're the first person to correctly tag within 10 metres of our host, you'll win the cash prize for that day.
TAGS:
You will receive three tags to help you get within 10 metres of Nathan. With each tag submitted, you'll be told if you're Red Hot, Hot, Warm or Cold to indicate how close (or far) you are to the destination.
To earn extra tags, simply share Tag Me If You Can with your friends on Twitter and Facebook. You'll receive one tag per social network you choose to share on, per game.
PRIZES:
The first person to correctly tag the map to within 10 metres of Nathan will win the cash prize for that day. There's $10,000 up for grabs each day. If no one's tags are submitted within 10 metres, the prize will jackpot and will be rolled over to the next day.
CLUES:
Additional clues about the secret location will be posted on the Expedia Facebook and Twitter pages. Clues will be released throughout the game, so make sure you're following us.

(b)Employees and officers of the Promoter, the agencies associated with the administration of the Promotion, and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter the Promotion or to be awarded any prizes in connection with the Promotion.

A4. Registration for Promotion
In order to enter the Promotion, individuals must register for the Promotion by completing the registration form available at tagme.expedia.com.au (for residents of Australia) or tagme.expedia.co.nz (for residents of New Zealand) (each a Promotion Portal and together the Promotion Portals).
Entrants may only register at one (1) Promotion Portal.
It is a condition of registration that when registering, individuals consent to receive marketing messages in connection with Expedia.com.au (for residents of Australia) or Expedia.co.nz (for residents of New Zealand). Individuals will not be eligible to enter the Promotion is they do not consent to receive marketing messages.
The marketing messages to be sent will include, but will not be limited to, additional clues as to the location of the Tag Me Host.

A5. How to enter
(a)For each weekday of the Promotion Period there will be a "Daily Game Cycle" commencing at 11:00 am AEST and closing at 10 am AEST on the immediately following weekday. This means that Daily Game Cycles commencing from Mon to Thurs will be 23 hours long and the Daily Game Cycle commencing on each Friday will be 71 hours long. As the Promotion Period runs for 15 weekdays, there will be 15 Daily Game Cycles.
(b)To enter the Promotion, eligible entrants must view the daily video blogs at either Promotion Portal to determine the exact location of the Host and place a tag on the map provided on the relevant Promotion Portal. Clues will be offered throughout the video and otherwise on the Promotion Portals. Locations may be anywhere in the world.
A new Daily Game Cycle will commence each weekday during the Promotion Period and the videos and accompanying videos are refreshed and replaced each weekday. The same clues will appear on each Promotion Portal so eligible entrants are not required to visit all Promotion Portals.

A6. Number of entries
(a)Eligible entrants will receive three (3) tags per Daily Game Cycle - that is three (3) opportunities to tag the Host for each Daily Game Cycle.
(b)Eligible entrants may also receive:
(i)one (1) bonus tag per Daily Game Cycle if the eligible entrant shares the Promotion on Facebook during that Daily Game Cycle using the facility provided; and
(ii)one (1) bonus tag per Daily Game Cycle if the eligible entrant shares the Promotion on Twitter during that Daily Game Cycle using the facility provided.

(c)There is a maximum of two (2) bonus tags available for each eligible entrant per daily Game Cycle. The bonus tags do not carry-over and must be used by the eligible entrant during the Daily Game Cycle in which they are earned.
(d)The Promoter will not be responsible if eligible entrant fails to correctly share the Promotion using Facebook or Twitter.

A7. Disqualification
If the Promoter becomes aware, or has reason to believe (in its reasonable opinion), that an eligible entrant or a prize winner has:
(a)created more than one registration through a Promotion Portal; or
(b)created a false registration through a Promotion Portal; or
(c)otherwise engaged in conduct which impacts on the fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Promotion,
the Promoter may, in its absolute discretion:
(d)disqualify the entrant from a Daily Game Cycle and/or disqualify that entrant's participation in the Promotion; or
(e)in the case of a prize winner, declare the prize winner's entry as void and select a new prize winner in respect of the relevant Daily Game Cycle.
If a prize winner's entry is declared void in accordance with paragraph (e), the prize winner will be deemed to have forfeited the prize and will not be entitled to any supplementary prize, benefit or compensation. The Promoter will then select a new prize winner of the forfeited prize by determining the next closest eligible entrant to the Host for the relevant Daily Game Cycle.

A8. Determination of prize winners and prizes
(a)The secret location of the Host for each Daily Game Cycle will be defined by the Promoter by a single longitude / latitude co-ordinate. The winning area for each Daily Game Cycle will be any co-ordinate within a 10 metre radius of the exact location of the Host. The Promoter will use the Haversine formula to calculate the distance between the secret location of the Host and the co-ordinate of each entry tag placed for that Daily Game Cycle.
(b)For each Daily Game Cycle, the first eligible entrant to successfully tag within the 10 metre radius of the exact location of the Host will be the prize winner for that Daily Game Cycle.
(c)There is a maximum of one prize winner for each Daily Game Cycle. Subject to paragraph (d) below, the prize winner of each Daily Game Cycle will win:
(i)AU$10,000 if the prize winner is a resident of Australia and first registered through www.tagme.expedia.com.au; or
(ii)NZ$10,000 if the prize winner is a resident of New Zealand and first registered through www.tagme.expedia.co.nz.

(d)In the event that no eligible entrant places a tag within a 10 metre radius of the exact location of the Host for a Daily Game Cycle, there will be no prize winner for that Daily Game Cycle and the prize value for that for that Daily Game Cycle will rollover and be added to the prize value for the next Daily Game Cycle.
(e)For the avoidance of doubt, amounts awarded to Australian residents will be awarded in Australian dollars and amounts awarded to New Zealand residents will be awarded in New Zealand dollars. The value of amounts that are rolled-over in accordance with paragraph (d) will be determined by the country of residency of the prize winner.
(f)If there is no prize winner for the final Daily Game Cycle, the prize value for that Daily Game Cycle will be forfeited and the Promoter will not be required to distribute any prize.
(g)The decision of the judges in determining prize winners is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

A9. Time and Place for judging of entries

I placed my last pin at Matacawalevu Village, MatacawaLevu Island, Fiji and was told HOT, WITHIN 10KM

Good luck

I put mine in Turtle Island and Tavewa Island (both said HOT within 10km) but Yanggeta Island came up with "you're in the right country" ie not within 10km

Hope that helps

Got two tags within 100 meters, red hot!

The island was Matacawalevu.

It's somewhere on the north coast of Matacawalevu. Could not get closer than 100m. Hubby and I tried it 6 times there.  :D

Unfortunately, I don't have any pins left; I pinned mine on top of the cliff; so I was always 100m away. Today I would pin it on the beach; because the last clue says he is watching the sunset. The photo on Facebook shows the view from the beach and not from the clifftop.

You know you could get two extra pins (over the three given) by sharing on FB and by Tweeting?

Presumably he is on west facing part of the island if he can see the sunset?

You can see the sunset from the north coast as well. As I said I was within 100m; and I was on the right tip (the straight one opposite Turtle Island). I already used my Facebook bonus pin; but I am not registered with Twitter; so I only had 4 pins.  :(

There is a V-shaped deep cut; where the water looks shallow and has a light beige colour. It faces north west. I guess this is where he is sitting.

That V cut has a lot of potential.  The sunset photo appears to be at the left end of a beach, or at least on a rocky bit, also with the tip of land in the near-distance (maybe 500m away).  The V cut would fit.

So todays looks like it's in Cuba.

UPDATE: DOH - it's in Miami

It's within 100m of plaza to the lower left of the Vizcaya Museum - but surely someone has this already

UPDATE: Also it looks like they don't tell you if you have won until the next day

The Cuba part is misleading, it's in the USA :)
(wasted a couple tags to find that out)

Yep it's near the vizcaya museum. You can actually see the shape of the wall in the photo from the end of the video clip where Nathan is sitting on grass..

This one was hard only because it was misleading. I did eventually get (hot) 10m away

Yes, wasted on e on Cuba first...

I'm within 100m, trying to hone in using the shape of the wall in the video

Not sure the next clues will get me much closer... (one pin left)

Doesn't "within 10m" = winner (if you were first)?

Wouldn't people entering in NZ get the clues first and therefore have a much better chance than somewhere like Perth who get the clues 4 hours later? These types of comps are bloody good if you win but bloody frustrating if you don't. It would also be helpful if everyone knows it's already been won. You've got your head around these, what do you think JRN?

The new first clues of the day are released at 11am EST, so everyone gets them at the same point in time (just a different time on the clock).  I guess once people get to know how they get informed of their proximity (within 10km , within 100m etc) then they get a better idea of how they are doing.  The T&Cs state a method of measurement of closeness so it appears that nearest the pin wins, not the first within 10m ( I think!)

As a means of making people engage with Expedia it is probably highly effective.  Though my 'engagement' will not result in me buying a holiday...

This is one of those competitons where  I think persistence and a comper's mentality (reading the rules, thinking about the clues, aiming to actually win not just take part) will pay off.

Nope it's the first within 10m - so once you use all your pins it doesn't hurt to tell everyone else what you know.

From the T&Cs

Quote
(b)For each Daily Game Cycle, the first eligible entrant to successfully tag within the 10 metre radius of the exact location of the Host will be the prize winner for that Daily Game Cycle.

I couldn't enter this morning because the screen kept flashing and now it says today's comp has ended and the winner will be announced shortly. I thought it was supposed to go thru to the next morning at 10am.
JRN was on the right island for the Fiji question and the location was about 1km from the town he mentioned. So well done JRN - another few goes and you would have hit the spot. I still think it's a bloody frustrating game. I thought it was advertising google because to zoom down so you can mark something within 10 metres is pretty darned good.

So today is a dance studio in New York... just have to figure out who the choreographer is and you're good to go!

And the Chevy's they walk past is at 259 West 42nd St. New York, NY 10036 - this is in the theatre district

So the corner of 8th and 45th is within 100m - good luck guys.

And that looks like a partial reflection of the studio name at 1:28

I'm tagged out, 3 within 100m

I think she says Midtown - which is really just a district isn't it?

I see another Kiwi won the prize. I'm wondering if they are letting Kiwis win because they only have to pay out 10,000 New Zealand dollars :)

I had thought it was something like "Newtown", though it might have been a studio name but couldn't find one.  I think you're right, she was just being general.

The partial reflection was of limited use at 1:28s.  Initial letters could make Dance Center, New York which provided no help!

I see the YOU TUBE video (which I find easier to rewind) has now had 78 views by now.

I am confident that a ACCer (or the other side) should get a win out of one of the coming days...

My strategy today was Google "Victoria's Secret choreographer" = Jermaine Browne = Broadway Dance Centre = Google map 322 W 45th Street,  New York, NY... Still could only manage within 100m!

Does it ever give you any closer than that?

My strategy today was Google "Victoria's Secret choreographer" = Jermaine Browne = Broadway Dance Centre = Google map 322 W 45th Street,  New York, NY... Still could only manage within 100m!

Does it ever give you any closer than that?

I've been trying to listen to the video quietly  at work, missed the Vic Secret reference!!

It seems pretty clear (given today's small target), that the closest it says is WITHIN 100m.  I had two pins in it but both said within 100m

I had 3 pins at HOT 10 metres ( I think).. I just went along  W 45th Street,  New York and pinned there at random places.

Yes - Expedia have confirmed that 100m is the closest (even for the winner). If you think about it if they put 10m then it would be all over Twitter and Facebook pretty quickly and no-one else would enter.

Only way that you can cheat on this one is if Nathan told you were he was. Quickest to 10m wins - how can you cheat on that?

Not a bad comp but Location 2 and 3 were a bit easy and as for time I think they have got this comp completely wrong and underestimated the skill of people playing.
Unless you are there at the start I have no doubt someone has tagged the 10m within 1 hour, most likely less and considering they have the provision of prize money
rolling over each day if the location isn't found I think they are kidding themselves.
As for people playing a couple of hours after each game starts, unless the locations start getting a lot harder and more time consuming you might get extremely lucky
otherwise it's really a waste of time.

Overall good idea, great prize money but a bit poor on the execution, unless you look at it from a advertising, marketing exercise

I also agree with Gilmour. I would think that the daily cash prize would have been won within the first two hours of each new location starting.

People like myself who cannot get to check the clues until later in the day are at a distinct disadvantage in this competition. Maybe the promoters should have put ALL the entrants who correctly chose within the locations radius into a daily draw. That would have been fairer for everyone.

I still think there's something fishy about this. It all seems to be over within 15 minutes. Does the clue get released at the same time in NZ - 1pm their time? I also think it's possible to cheat - what's stopping someone signing in with different email addresses to get unlimited tags? So if you get withing 100m you could cover every square metre. Also does anyone know what the Lottos people are saying about this comp?

Title: Re: WIN A Share of $150,000 EXPEDIA
Post by: JRN on Thursday 02 August 2012, 12:13:46 pm
They have been asked (on FB or Twitter) and stated that the release time IS THE SAME.  I guess it is plausible to get more pins, i.e. with multiple identitiies.  However, that won't help much in a FASTEST FIND competition.

The winner is the FIRST within 10m.

We can't obviously be sure where the promoter drops THEIR pin, but today (with Nathan outside) it seemed easy enough to drop the pin at the footpath to the house.  I'm sure I'll be within 10m.  I might just not be the FIRST.

As for the "other side" I'm not a member so can't see their chatter (I'm sure they will read ours!)

Not really... then everyone would wait until just before 10am (when it closes) and throw their 5 pins at the location that would well and truly be solved by then.

I'd suggest that they do the first 100 to pin within 10m or maybe everyone who pins within 1 hour of the first pin within 10m - then this tactic wouldn't work.

Title: Re: WIN A Share of $150,000 EXPEDIA
Post by: JRN on Thursday 02 August 2012, 10:13:09 pm
Most compeittions require us to compete, to beat someone else, even when it is because we beat people by being randomly drawn first (and I have a number of good wins from that including a laptop and a TV and a weekend away).  This one is run in a manner which makes votes, likes, "false" IDs give no advantage.  Someone on FB said they got there in10 minutes today, I was really pleased to find it in under 30 minutes.  I will probably not win today, but I will be so pleased for the person who won, and the many others who beat me!

The reward in this comp is huge, a chance at $10,000 each day!  I'm pleased we are required to put in some effort.  I just hope that one day I can beat everyone else!

Title: Re: WIN A Share of $150,000 EXPEDIA
Post by: gilmour on Thursday 02 August 2012, 10:47:40 pm
I like this comp and its format as well, but not much effort is required to find the correct answer. If you don't start playing almost as soon as the first clue is released
you are wasting your time. They might as well announce the winner as soon as it is found instead of stringing it along for another 23.5 hours each day.

Considering the big prize money, and the supposed 24hr time limit to find it and that they roll over prize money to the next day if it is not found (a bit of a joke)
the first clue video should be a lot harder or shorter and possibly not show where Nathan is so precisely or only give you 1 or 2 pins to place. That possibly would
make the game last a bit longer and be more of a challenge.

Ross I put in three pins around there and it said I was in the right country. All I have to do now is narrow it down to the 10m - only problem is I've used up all my pins!!

Yesterday it was found in 10 minutes, it's been 3 hours now since the clue was released. Does anyone know if someone has tagged the right place?

I like the possibility of the Hans Heysen Historic Home - features paintings, and Nathan looks at a painting near the final frame.

I placed 2 there but NOT within 100m.

I THINK the actual location must have SOMETHING to do with the painting he holds

Here is todays link posted to prove the cheating

If it's been hacked and thats the reason why NZ is winning then isn't it a breach of their terms and conditions because it no longer follows what is stated in the t&cs??

There has been no hacking.

The daily email sent out to tell you where yesterday's location was contains a hyperlink for the image of the location.

For example lets say the hyperlink was www.day10location.com.au

Anyone could open that link and replace the 10 with 11, or 12 etc to find the location of SUBSEQUENT days.

They have now removed the images at those hyperlink locations,  but see my earlier post for the intended answer for 17 August.

He'll be in the middle of this Google Map location tomorrow - not that it will do you much good as they unlikely to continue it tomorrow.

From FB:

Hi Taggers, some of you may have seen the location for today and tomorrow's games were posted online. We want you to know security is extremely important to us - thorough checks are performed on each of our winners and any suspicious behavior is investigated. To make sure you all have a fair shot at winning tomorrow, we will be running a different location than planned.
