Mad Hatter Best Hat Competition

Open to kids 4 - 12 years of age; dress up in your favourite hat, beanie, visor or your own creative design to compete to win some great prizes!

2. By submitting your entry form, or registering to participate in the Mad Hatter competition, you agree to abide by the competition terms and conditions.
3. Entrants must be aged 4-12 years at the time of the competition (inclusive).
4. The Promoter is Melbourne Racing Club of Gate 22, Station Street, Caulfield VIC 3162. A.B.N. 96 203 634.
5. Entrants must not be dressed by a fashion designer and failure to comply with this will result in disqualification.
6. Headwear is mandatory for boys and girls entering.
7. One heat will take place on the race day. Two (2) winners will be chosen, one girl and one boy, as determined by the judges. The Promoter reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of heats, finals, or winners at its complete discretion.
8. Winners will be notified on Saturday, 9th February 2013 (Race Day).
9. Registration will take place from 12.00noon – 1.15pm on the Race Day unless heats are full or entry is extended by the promoter at their discretion.
10. Faxed, posted or online pre-registration forms will be accepted until 12noon, Friday, 9th February 2013.
11. Heats may take place any time from 1.20pm on race day.
12. Preliminary judging or heats may be introduced at the discretion of the Promoter on the Race Day if deemed necessary.
13. All prizes are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and not redeemable for cash. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute an alternative prize at its complete discretion at anytime.
14. The promoter shall select and appoint the judges.
15. Contestants will be judged on the creativity, design and most outstanding hat or headwear along with style and innovation.
16. The judge’s decision is final.
17. The Promoter will determine a winner in the event of a draw.
18. There will be two (2) Grand Final Prize winners only, made up of one boy winner and one girl winner.
19. The two (2) winners will receive a prize pack each. The promoter reserves the right to change of substitute prizes at its discretion, at any time during the competition.
20. The parent/guardian acknowledges they are fully responsible for the entrant and that the promoter will not be held liable for the entrant.
21. All images and footage of entrants become the property of the Promoter and may be used for future promotions by the Promoter.
22. The Promoter collects applicants' personal information in order to conduct the promotion. If the information requested is not provided, the applicant may be refused participation in the promotion. By submitting an application, unless
otherwise advised by the applicant, each applicant consents to the information they submit with their application being entered into a database and the Promoter may use this information in any media for future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes without any further reference or payment or other compensation to the applicant, including sending the applicant electronic messages. All personal details of the applicants will be stored at the office of the Promoter. A request to access, update or correct any information should be directed to that office. In addition, all applications become the property of the Promoter and it is a condition of applying that those applications may be used by the Promoter for their own promotional, marketing and publicity purposes without restriction.
23. The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for personal injury which is suffered or sustained, as a result of participating in this promotion or taking any prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
24. The Promoter reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion.
25. The Promoter, on race day reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone deemed to be inappropriately attired, or displaying inappropriate behaviour.
26. Staff and immediate families of the Promoter and associated sponsors are not eligible to enter.
