TomTom “unwrap the world” Competition
Terms and Conditions

TomTom International B.V., incorporated under the laws of the Netherlands and registered at Rembrandtplein 35 (1017 CT), Amsterdam, the Netherlands (“TomTom”), is happy to announce its “Unwrap the world” Competition ("Competition"). The Competition is governed by these Terms and Conditions (“Terms and Conditions”). The Terms and Conditions are available on http://www.tomtom.com/more, and will be sent upon request (more@tomtom.com). By participating in the Competition, each participant declares to agree to these Terms and Conditions.

What is the Competition about?
TomTom invites people to play an online game by unwrapping one or more of the pre-selected routes and submitting their “Unwrap the world” application to TomTom’s dedicated page http://www.tomtom.com/more (“Website”).
Participants need to fulfill certain elements to participate in the Competition to be found on the Website and to be eligible to win one of the prizes:
Fill out personal details on the registration form;
Unwrap one or more pre-selected routes by playing the game “unwrap the world”;
Play a certain mini-game in order to be eligible to win a small prize;
Answer one motivation question on an application form by uploading a file in any form the participant would like, with a maximum file-size of 10MB, in which the participant and his group of friends or family explain why they are the best group to win the driving adventure, being a two week road trip for 4 persons on one of the six pre-selected famous routes.
The entire competition period shall run from 26 November 6.00 PM CET 2012 until 15th of January 00.01 AM CET 2013 (“Competition Period”).
Eligibility
Participating in the Competition is free and open to everyone who is 18 years or over and is domiciled in:

The United Kingdom, The Republic of Ireland, Canada, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, India, Czech Republic, Poland, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Turkey, South Africa and the United States (excluding New York and Florida).
Employees of any business that is involved or associated with the Competition (including TomTom and its associated companies) are not eligible to enter the Competition. TomTom reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all participants.
The family and relatives of employees of any business that is involved or associated with the Competition (including TomTom and its associated companies) are eligible to enter the Competition, except for the competition relating to one of the grand prizes, for which they are explicitly excluded. For the purpose of these Terms and Conditions the family and relatives of an employee shall include but is not limited to family in the first and second degree (amongst others his/her partner, their children, his/her parents or his/her partners’ parents, his/her brothers and sisters and their children).
How to participate
Participants can start at any time by registering on the Website from 26 November 6.00 PM CET 2012. The Competition will close on 15th of January 00.01 AM CET 2013.  Registration includes providing personal contact details, a valid email address and your country of residence. Registration can also be done through your Facebook account, in which case registration includes providing certain user data such as your first name, email-address and your country of residence.   
Each Participant can only register once to participate in the Competition. The participant is allowed to unwrap one or more of the pre-selected routes at the same time and participate in one or more mini-games along these routes. By playing the mini-games, the participant can be eligible to win one or more small prizes, but he can only be eligible to win one of the grand prizes.
TomTom will send an e-mail confirmation to participants after successfully receiving and approving a registration form. If the participant for any reason whatsoever, does not receive an e-mail confirmation, the entry is deemed not to be approved by TomTom and is therefore not eligible to enter the Competition.
No purchase is necessary in order to enter this Competition. There is no fee charged to enter the Competition other than the cost of you accessing the internet.
Excluded application forms
Participants may not include information on the application forms or upload to the Website an application form or other materials that are partly or as a whole unlawful, offensive, inappropriate or contrary to good morals or denigrating to TomTom or the Competition.
TomTom will have the sole discretion to reject or remove application forms submitted by the participants or other materials uploaded to the Website that do not comply with this paragraph or the spirit of the Competition.
Prize selection
Grand prizes:
After unwrapping the chosen route, the participant is invited to upload a file, with a maximum file-size of 10MB, in which the participant explains why they are the best group to win the road trip. The Website supports most regular file formats: DOC, TXT, MOV, JPG, MP3, MP4, AVI, WMV, GIF.
Ultimately 10 days after the end of the Competition Period, a committee consisting of representatives selected by TomTom, supported by marketing professionals (“Committee”), will select 1 winning entry for each grand prize. The full names of the members of the Committee are available from TomTom on request (please see section 12 for contact details).
The winner will be selected based on the following qualities:
Creativity;
Originality;
Humour; and
Motivation. 
Within two weeks after the end of the Competition Period the winners will be contacted and announced by TomTom.
Small prizes:
The small prizes can be won by playing the mini-game. The participants are challenged to pinpoint the location of 3 cities on the continent (blind map) they are playing. After dropping the pin on the map, their score will be determined based on time (millisecond) and distance (km) to the actual location of the city. The participants will have 5 seconds per city to pinpoint. A lower score is better than a higher score and the participant’s total score is the sum of all three individual scores. The moment the participant starts playing the mini-game, it will fall into a certain time slot. At the end of that time slot, the winner with the best score is selected and the winner will win either a PND Via 135 M (or equivalent) or Nike Sports Watch Anthracite/BlueGlow (or equivalent). The winner will be notified via email.
In the event the participant’s score is less than a certain pre-announced amount, the participant will win a discount voucher to be redeemed in the TomTom online shop. A redeem code for the TomTom online store will be sent to the participants via email. The discount vouchers are not available for participants domiciled in Argentina, India, and Mexico. The voucher must be redeemed prior to 1 July 2013. Only one voucher can be redeemed each time and the vouchers may not be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion.

Small prizes:
500 times a TomTom Via 135 M (or equivalent), 500 Nike sports watches and a certain number of discount vouchers redeemable in the TomTom online shop.  The value of each voucher depends on the participant’s country of residence:
• The Republic of Ireland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Austria: a voucher with a value of 10 EUR, subject to a minimum purchase of 10 EUR;
• The United Kingdom: a voucher with a value of £8, subject to a minimum purchase of £8;

Intellectual property rights
By submitting an application form for one of the grand prizes, including – if applicable – text and images (photo/picture) (“Content”):
The participant warrants to TomTom that:
the participant is the sole owner of all intellectual property rights relating to the Content, in particular the copyright and any other intellectual property right relating to submitted texts, images and videos; or
the participant is duly authorized by all owners of intellectual property rights relating to the Content, in particular the owners of copyright or any other intellectual property right relating to submitted texts, images or videos, to submit the Content and to grant the right to use the Content as described in paragraph 3 of this clause.
The participant thus warrants having the full right and title to submit the Content, and that the Content is free of any rights or claims of third parties that could be asserted against the use of the Content.
To the extent permitted under applicable law, the participant agrees to indemnify and hold TomTom and its affiliated companies, its officers, directors, employees and agents harmless from any and all:
Losses, costs (including reasonable attorney fees) and expenses awarded against TomTom; and/or;
rights or claims alleged against TomTom, arising out of or resulting from a breach of the participant's obligations under this clause and/or in respect of claims that anything done or provided by the participant infringes the intellectual property rights owned or asserted by third parties.
The participant grants TomTom and its affiliated companies a royalty-free, non-exclusive, world-wide, unrestricted, transferable, sub-licensable right to use the Content in connection with the Competition and related business purposes, including for promotional activities as further described in these Terms and Conditions. This right includes, but is not limited to the permission to:
copy, distribute, publicly display, make publicly available and modify the Content. This includes inter alia all graphic media (like catalogues, brochures and flyers) and online media such as (internet, intranet and mobile networks) regardless of the used techniques;
change, format, divide, split or combine with other logo’s and brands, also related to for instance contests or promotions from TomTom;
distribute and make publicly available, notably to promote TomTom, in particular the Competition. This includes the right to use the Content for commercial purposes, in advertorials, inter alia in store and on internet, and for internal and external and promotional communication.
The participant warrants that the Content does not infringe the image and personality rights of persons that are recognizable in the Content.
To the extent permitted under applicable law, the participant unconditionally and irrevocably   waives, and shall procure that any third party engaged by the participant in the production of the Content shall unconditionally and irrevocably waive, all moral rights relating to the Content. This includes in particular, but is not limited to, the right to claim authorship and the right to object to adaptations, modifications and other changes to the Content. The participant hereby declares that the participant will not use any moral right to oppose, prevent or impede the acts of using the Content described under these Terms and Conditions.
The participant will do anything reasonably necessary to effectuate the attribution and transfer of rights mentioned in section 7.
Acceptance of prizes
It is the winners’ responsibility to ensure that they are capable of accepting the prizes including, without limitation, ensuring that they have a valid passport and any required visas necessary in order to use one of the prizes and at least one of the persons on the road trip must be over the age of 25 and have held a full clean drivers license for a minimum of 2 years.
All decisions are final. If a winner does not respond within two weeks after a notification has been sent to the electronic contact details submitted or registered by the winner or does not fulfill all legal requirements, another winner will be selected from the remaining eligible entries in accordance with the selection process for the specific competition.
By accepting a prize, each winner agrees to be responsible for all federal, state, provincial, local, or other applicable taxes associated with acceptance and use of the prize. All prizes awarded are personal and non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash or credit. TomTom reserves the sole right and discretion to change any of the prices by another prize of higher or similar value.
Winners accept that by entering any of the elements of the Competition they may be asked to take part in related publicity and promotional activities. Winners may have their name and country displayed on the Website and/or on any other TomTom websites.
Notice and take down
All material (including, but not limited to, Content) posted on the Website must comply with these Terms and Conditions. TomTom reserves the right at all times to take down any material TomTom considers to be unacceptable, illegal or in any other way violating the Terms and Conditions.
If you consider any material on the Website to be illegal or unacceptable and wish to complain, please send an e-mail to more@tomtom.com outlining the nature of your complaint.
On receipt of your notice, TomTom will investigate the complaint and may, as a result, remove or edit the material at issue.
Privacy statement
For this Competition TomTom needs to use the information about the participants and others, which participants enter on the Website. As a participant, you need to be aware that some of the information you submit, such as photos and comments, could contain (sensitive) information about you and others. You need to make sure that you only submit information about others, when you have permission from them to do so. TomTom will use the information for the Competition and promotion of the Competition. TomTom will destroy all information submitted within 3 months after the Competition ends, except for the information from the winner. TomTom will continue to use your name and email address for its own general promotional purposes, but only if you give permission for this on the Website.
TomTom adheres to European Union and other local privacy laws. Based on this, TomTom will only use your information for the purpose and duration for which it was obtained. TomTom will protect your information against misuse. TomTom will not give anyone else access to your information, unless explicitly and lawfully ordered to do so, following due process.

Liability
Nothing in this Competition or these Terms and Conditions shall operate so as to exclude or limit the liability of TomTom which cannot be excluded or limited by law.
Although TomTom will use its best efforts to arrange for a smooth operation of the Competition, TomTom shall not be liable for any damages – except in the case of willful conduct or gross negligence on the part of TomTom or TomTom’s management – that arises from the Competition in general or the use of the Website specifically to the extend permitted under applicable law. Participating in the Competition implies knowledge and acceptance of the characteristics and limitations of internet, inter alia technical performance, the transfer of information and data, the risk and effect of interruptions and more in general the risks that are inherent to communication through internet, such as limited data protection, malware and viruses.
It is the responsibility of the participant to take all foreseeable and reasonable measures to protect his computer and its content. Use of the Website and participating in the Competition is the sole responsibility of the participant.

In the event a participant wishes to receive more information about the Competition, about the (distributed) prizes, about TomTom products or services or has a complaint about the Competition, the participant can contact Customer Care via www.tomtom.com or by sending an e-mail to more@tomtom.com.
Termination
If, for any reason, this Competition is not capable of running as planned or is in conflict with local regulations TomTom reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend all or part of the Competition without resulting in liability or any claim of damages. This includes, but is not limited to, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of TomTom.
Miscellaneous
TomTom shall carry out this Competition in compliance with the laws and regulations on promotional games of chance and promotional gifts.
The Competition is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by or associated with Facebook. Any information provided by participants in connection with the Competition is provided to TomTom and not to Facebook. Facebook shall have no liability to participants arising out of or in connection with the Competition.
Choice of law
The Competition and these Terms and Conditions will be governed by and construed in accordance with local law of the country where the participant is residing.

Travel is subject to availability at the discretion of the organiser and excludes Christmas, New Year, Valentines, Easter, School Holidays and Bank Holidays (both in the winner’s home country and the destination country). Departure airport used will be dependent on the availability from the winners nearest available international airport, which may not necessarily be the closest. A direct flight cannot be guaranteed. Winners may need a visa for this destination, which they should arrange with the Embassy at their own expense.

Driver must be over the age of 25 and have held a full clean drivers licence for a minimum of 2 years. Fully inclusive refers to unlimited mileage, collision damage waiver, theft protection, local taxes and airport fees. Due to snowfall road closures, this trip can only be taken between April and October each year.

Driver must also hold a valid credit card (not debit card) with a minimum of €500 (or equivalent) available for security deposit, which is refundable upon safe return of the vehicle.

Hotel accommodation will be a minimum class of 3 stars. Accommodation will be based on four adults sharing a quad room with ensuite bathroom on a room only basis.

Petrol expenses will be provided in addition to the spending money for all 1,358 km of the route.

Due to the length of drive, it is advisable for both the winner and travel companion to hold a full clean drivers licence to share the drive. Maximum drive between destinations along the route will be approximately 2 hours 30 minutes, subject to speed and traffic.

Spending money is €1,000 in total. Winner will be paid in their national currency. The exact amount received will depend on the exchange rate at the time of booking.

It is the winner’s responsibility to comply with the visa requirements of the destination country. Approval is at the discretion of the destination countries Embassy and neither NDL Group nor TomTom can be held responsible for this being rejected. Any associated costs are at the winner’s expense and not included in the prize.

Travel insurance is subject to normal terms of acceptance. Pre-existing medical conditions may not be covered. No age restrictions apply. Should NDL Group be unable to purchase travel insurance on the winners behalf, the winner will be reimbursed fully for purchasing their own travel insurance.

This game is a bit hard on those of us who are hopeless at Geography!  I mean, if I knew how to negotiate a map with any reasonable skill, then I'd be less likely to need to win a GPS...!

This really is a L-O-N-G drawn out car trip game. It takes hours to complete the journey. I must admit that I'm getting bored with playing it already!  :(

Has anyone won a prize yet? I don't really get this game at all. I didn't know we had to find clues. So I'm clueless. I'm bad with maps as whenever it asks me to find some place in the states, I have no idea. I don't get the objective of this game. Is it just me?

I know two people have won TomToms. I have won 2 $15 vouchers. You choose a country and start the game. Every now and then you'll get a message to unwrap gifts. Coins help you go the distance. If you unwrap a box, you have to pin where cities are, in the country u are in . Quickest time wins the prize offered. As u accumulate coins, you go to the 'market' tp upgrade so you go faster.

My hubby won a Tomtom and a voucher yesterday, I picked Australia luckily, the geography is easier if it's your own country. Also kept Christopher happy a lot with music etc.

As usual I didn't read the instructions and thinking it was an Australian comp I chose to travel around South America rather than Australia thinking I'd have superior geographical knowledge. Ha, Ha, Ha.

I'm not getting this game at all, either, and I didn't realise you could opt in for Aus!  I'm stuck in South America, getting asked to find cities I've never heard of!  And how do I buy a Unicorn, etc?  That would have been my choice, but when I click on it nothing happens.  I don't understand how to buy the 'tools'?  And I've entered HEAPS of codes.  Nothing happens at all when I click on anything other than getting coins.  I've got heaps of coins, but can't figure out if that means I can buy anything?!!!  I'm NOT liking this game!!! :x

When redeeming codes you need to exit the market for them to show up - then you go back in to spend it.

Go to the market on the top right hand side and buy the unicorn there.  You also have to buy other items as you go through, it will let you know when you do.

Unfortunately you can only do one. Also the grand prize winner for each location is a skill competition - I think you have to do a video as to why you want to win it.

Half way through unwrapping my second country with more that 5,000 coins it suddenly logged me out, when logging back in it took me back to the start with no coins and nothing at all unwrapped.

I'm cheesed off! After taking three days to complete the journey across Africa I now have to upload a video or a song, a picture, a dance or poem ect.. explaining why I should win the prize. "Most creative answer wins".  :(

To choose Australia you just click on the country. :)

One could log out of the game, delete cookies and then another family member could have a go with a different email account...just saying. When the world map comes up, just pick Australia, make sure though that on the top of the game you change your country, I think it's set for America but can be changed to anything.

Great idea that would be possible but I'm a weary traveller now and south america is where i am. In hindsight for those starting fresh the best thing to do is grab all the codes and get heaps of money buy the unicorn keep feeding it and appease stupid Christopher with makeovers and music. Don't bother with the lobster or scissors to help speed up travel they're a waste of time. I did win a couple of discount vouchers for $15 but no use to me.

If you are stuck in a country you don't want to be in the best thing is, as Indiorose says, get the unicorn and feed it and then just leave the whole thing running in the background. It will be finished in a few hours..just check every now and then.
Then opt for Australia and you should have no problems. I got stuck in South America and had never heard of most of the places. I even downloaded a map but you don't have time to consult it!  I could easily score 10000 kms away from the target in 10 seconds!
However once I got to Australia I managed to win a nike watch.

As for the creative part!...I haven't come across a comp that requires you to spend so much time and do so much to win. The major winners will certainly deserve it!
