The fifth and final season of massively popular US drama series Breaking Bad delivers some major bloody conclusions, ending in a literal bang.

Meth kingpin Walter White and his guilt-ridden partner Jesse Pinkman try to clear the wreckage they’ve left behind in the meth world but it seems more obstacles just keep getting in their way – especially with DEA agent Hank Schrader now hot on their trail.

But if you thought the final series was packed with action and drama when you caught it on TV, wait till you hear what’s in store on Blu-ray and DVD. Special features on the Blu-ray, for example, include cast and crew commentaries on every episode, featurettes entitled ‘The Main Event’, ‘The Final Showdown’ and ‘Life Of A Show Runner’, an alternate ending and behind-the-scenes of the alternate ending, plus a gag reel to lighten things up a little!

Breaking Bad as a whole proved to be a very successful series – thanks to its innovative approach in shooting – ‘cold’ opening scenes, obtuse angles, gritty backdrops… These techniques – and some new ones – are even more obvious in the final series, and it’s only when you re-view the series on DVD or Blu-ray that you realise just how mind-blowing a production it really is.
