The 2014 Oz Am Champ will win $10,000 cash and a return trip to the world's highest profile Amateur skateboard contest - Tampa Am. Top 6 place-getters in Open Division and Top 3 in Juniors, in each state, qualify for the Nike x SbA Am Titles Grand Final. First-placed State & Territory Champions, in both divisions, win return airfares to the Grand Final in Melbourne. Registration for qualifying heats open from 9am. Rego cut-off is 10.30am for Juniors & Noon for Open Division. All Junior competitors are required to wear a helmet during both qualifying heats, and finals. If the winner of the Australian Open Amateur Championship is under 18 years of age it will be the responsibility of their family or guardian to approve and pay for a chaperone to America for the Tampa Am event. WET WEATHER In the event of wet or unforseen weather a decision to cancel or continue will be made on the day of the event. The scheduled event format can be adjusted on the day to assist with weather issues (eg. Results taken from heats). In the event of a complete weather cancellation, washing out an entire qualifying round, competitors will be encouraged to travel to one of the other remaining qualifying rounds, where extra qualification spots (maximum of 2 in Open, and 1 in Junior) will be on offer. Weather updates will be announced by SbA on the day of the event online at SbA’s Facebook page. AMATEUR STATUS To be eligible to enter SbA’s Am Titles you can NOT have your name on a pro-model skateboard deck. Any qualified skater who turns ‘Pro’ (gets their name on a pro-model board) between qualifying and that year’s Am Titles Final or Tampa Am, becomes ineligible to compete in those events respectively. ELIGIBILITY As this is the ‘Australian Amateur Championships’ you must be an Australian Citizen, or at minimum, Australian Resident to enter. QUALIFYING The division you qualify in is the division you will skate in for the final. You can only skate in one division. FLIGHTS First place state champion in each division wins return airfares to the Am Titles Final in Melbourne. COMPETING IN MULTIPLE EVENTS Skaters are permitted to enter as many of the qualifying stops as they like. Prize money will be awarded to place getters regardless of any pre-qualification status, whilst the qualification and finals flights will be passed down the line in the occasion that first place has already won flights. The Grand Final will take place on a custom-built indoor course. SbA extends the invitation for qualified entrants to compete in the National Finals, however all arrangements (travel, accom, etc.) are the responsibility of the competitors. Flights are only going to be provided for the first place state champion at each qualifying round. All details for the Finals will be available here at sba.org.au. UNDER 18 CONSENT If under 18 years of age you must have a parent or guardian sign entry form. Am Titles entry forms will be downloadable from this page early in January 2014.
