Hear the creatives talk about the show at a special pre-show forum from 6.30pm and get the opportunity to attend the exclusive opening night gala function following the show where you can have a drink, nibbles and meet the performers. Brisbane-based Circa, hailed worldwide as one of the most dynamic forces in new circus, returns to the Canberra Theatre Centre in August 2014 to present S, a Helpmann Award-winning show which sold out theatres in Budapest and Montreal in its first international tour this year. It’s a full-throttle ride to the limits of the human body. Based on the 19th letter of the English alphabet, S fuses group acrobatics with intimate emotions. Dramatic acrobatics, athletic aerial acts and powerful solos are all infused with raw immediacy and beauty. The core ingredient of Circa’s success has been quality. Under the artistic direction of Yaron Lifschitz, Circa has established itself as a centre of excellence in contemporary circus. Recent works have been called “…astonishing physical mastery (The New York Times) “…the limits to which circus can aspire” (The Age) and “…Something akin to theatre fit for the gods” (Australian Stage). Circa’s bold new vision of contemporary circus is characterised by a blending of bodies, light, sound and skills.
