Did you know that the whale watching season had already started? Whale One has reported that they are looking forward to a bumper season and there are already plenty of whales about. There are approximately 17 – 20,000 humpbacks anticipated to be gracing our shores this year.
Whale One whale watching started the season with perfect weather in June. The team at Whale One shared, “It was only a short distance from Mooloolaba Bay that we sighted our first whale. A humpback just 2.5 nautical miles east of Point Cartwright followed by a pod of 2 whales.
“Not far off in the distance were a few whales heading slowly north. We didn’t need to seek them out though as the pod we were with put on an incredible display with 20+ breaches, tail and pectoral slapping and even a few close encounters with them “mugging” the boat!
“Our lunch time Dolphin Discovery Cruise guests got an added bonus and were exhilarated with 2 Humpback Whales coming in close and giving us over a dozen breaches. Even a few double breaches! We also saw 4 common dolphins and fed approximately 30 pelicans.”
Don’t forget that their Whale Watching cruises run daily with whale sightings guaranteed and their Dolphin Discovery Cruises run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until the end of June (they cannot guarantee sightings on this cruise but it is great value for money if you want to try your luck).

Whale season is from June – early November. Don’t miss the action on board Whale One.
