Win tixs to see Phil Jamieson and Scott Russo

UNIQUE SOUND: Scott Russo and Phil Jamieson will put on a show in Newcastle on December 21.

PHIL Jamieson, perhaps best known as the frontman for Australian rock band Grinspoon, said there had been some instances in his career where good mate Scott Russo had "blatantly ripped me off".

While such an accusation may have ruined any other musical friendship, it has brought the pair closer together.

So close that Jamieson and Russo, the frontman for American rock band Unwritten Law, will tour the country together this month. They will be in Newcastle on December 21.

"This is an opportunity for fans of either or both bands, Grinspoon or Unwritten Law, to see a couple of douchebag jerks from those bands compete with each other on stage," Jamieson said.

Jamieson and Russo met in 1999 during the Vans Warped Tour.

During the years and in many hotels across the world, the pair have jammed until developing a sound that manifested itself into a unique, stripped-back set.

Jamieson teamed up with Russo earlier this year to put on shows in Sydney and Melbourne. Both sold out, paving the way to the acoustic live show they are currently touring.

Jamieson said the price of admission alone was worth seeing if Russo would be able to stand up on stage.

Tickets to the Newcastle show at the Cambridge Hotel, available from Oztix, cost $43.90.
