Title: Win 1/10 "For The Love of Meat" books - members - Qld.

For a meat-eater, there’s nothing like the satisfaction of biting into a great piece of steak.

As a dedicated meat lover, food writer, farmer and presenter of the SBS television show Gourmet Farmer, Matthew Evans has been searching for a way to deal with his unease about eating meat.

Evans questions what eating meat does to our bodies, the environment and the world. How are the animals we consume — the more than half a billion chickens or hundreds of thousands of pigs — treated?

For the Love of Meat, written by Matthew Evans and edited by long-time Sydney chef Alex Herbert, explains how meat-eaters can ask the hard questions about where their meat comes from. It encourages readers to eat mindfully and become conscientious carnivores by doing something as simple as buying a whole chicken.

The book also includes delicious recipes — such as braised saltbush lamb shoulder, spicy pork noodles and spring green risotto — from Matthew and his chef friends.

“Every time you choose to cook with more ethically-reared meat, you’re making the world a better place,” Matthew said.

RACQ Living is giving away 10 copies of For the Love of Meat, each valued at $45.
