Fans of the original fairytale and subsequent 1991 animated film won’t be disappointed by the live-action remake of Beauty and The Beast, due to hit cinemas on March 23, 2017. Starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens in the title roles, Beauty and the Beast is the story of Belle, a young woman taken prisoner by a Beast in his castle in exchange for the freedom of her father. Despite her fears, Belle befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s exterior to recognize the true heart and soul of the human prince within. At the same time, a hunter is on the loose to take Belle for himself and hunt down the Beast at any cost. Directed by Oscar-winner Bill Condon from a screenplay based on the 1991 animated film, Beauty and the Beast features music by eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken. He won two Academy Awards (Best Original Score and Best Song) for the 1991 animated film. The film stars an ensemble cast, including Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome but shallow villager who woos Belle; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; and a stellar voice cast including Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci and Emma Thompson.
