On Friday 3 March, Kristian Fletcher hosts ABBA in Australia: 40th Anniversary Celebration at New Globe Theatre, 220 Brunswick St Fortitude Valley. Forty years to the day, the night will pay tribute to the Swedish pop phenomenon and those couple of weeks when Australia went ABBA-mad. The Australian leg of their tour was to be the most memorable since The Beatles a decade earlier. With great anticipation from media and fans, Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny, Frida and an entourage of 117 people arrived in Sydney in late February 1977. ABBA played 11 dates in Australia before a total of 160,000 people. The fan-frenzy is immortalised in ABBA THE MOVIE Kick back in the retro cinema and watch a video compilation of ABBA clips & archival footage from the Australia tour.
