You Will Not Play Wagner is set in contemporary Tel Aviv where a young Israeli causes a storm by selecting to perform Wagner in the finals of an international competition for conductors. His selection pushes the competition to the brink and sets Israeli society on edge. Should the politics of Wagner’s music interfere with the quality of his art? To what extent do we honour the memory of the Holocaust, its survivors and their descendants, without stifling the next generation? From the producers of My Name is Asher Lev and Coming to See Aunt Sophie, Director, Moira Blumenthal and producer Shalom are proud to present the World Premiere of You Will Not Play Wagner at Eternity Playhouse from 4 to 28 May 2017. Competition entries close Friday, April 21 at noon. This competition is open to Australian residents only.
