Whitney Houston’s famous film role is coming to the stage at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre. The musical version of The Bodyguard opens on April 21.

Australian Idol contestant Paulini is in the lead role of Rachel Marron, with Kip Gamblin in Kevin Costner’s role of bodyguard Frank Farmer and Prinnie Stevens as Nicki Marron.

Producer John Frost said he couldn’t wait to watch the show unfold.

“We have an incredible cast for The Bodyguard, led by two extraordinary singers, Paulini and Prinnie Stevens, and leading man Kip Gamblin in his first musical theatre role,” he said.

“I have no doubt Australia will fall in love with this iconic story and those soaring ballads all over again.”

The musical was written by Oscar-winner Alexander Dinelaris (Birdman).

It’s about former security agent-turned-bodyguard who’s hired to protect a superstar singer from an unknown stalker.

Each expects to be in charge – but neither expects to fall in love.

Performance times: Tuesdays at 7pm, Wednesdays to Saturdays at 8pm, matinees on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 1pm, Saturdays at 2pm and Sundays at 2pm and 6pm.
