This week in Laurel's Lip Goss - Win a double pass to see La La Land in Concert Experience the ground-breaking and original musical film LA LA LAND like never before - LIVE with an 80-piece orchestra and jazz ensemble. The Philharmonia Australia Orchestra will be among the world’s first orchestras to perform the soundtrack from La La Land live alongside a full screening of the critically acclaimed film – on stage at the at the Brisbane Convention Centre on Tuesday, December 12 and at the iconic, newly renovated Palais Theatre in St Kilda on Saturday, December 16. An 80-piece orchestra and band will perform composer Justin Hurwitz’s Oscar-winning score live – from the toe-tapping opener Another Day of Sun to the delightful Planetarium instrumental and the recurring City of Stars. “By preserving the film’s unique recorded vocal performances of Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling and John Legend from the film’s soundtrack, and blending them with live musicians, we are able to build a one-of-a-kind concert experience which becomes a hybrid of film, pre-recordings and incredible live musicianship,” said the concert’s director, Richard Kraft. La La Land writer and director Damien Chazelle said: "For me, one of the most thrilling and fulfilling parts of making La La Land was scoring the film to a live orchestra: with phenomenal local musicians playing in real-time to the Technicolor images, bringing Justin's compositions to vivid life."
