Post by: culturebird on Wednesday 16 May 2018, 04:22:46 pm
See Nash Edgerton's first feature and hear from the Aussie film legend himself!

The Artist’s Room initiative by Event Cinemas, Create NSW and AFTRS celebrates its first anniversary with a screening of the new dark comedy Gringo, featuring a Q and A with Director Nash Edgerton.

Nash has forged his career over the past 25 years as one the industry’s leading stunt men, creating action in films such as Street Fighter, The Thin Red Line and The Matrix as well as suite of TV shows. Breaking free from the rough and tumble of stunt work, Nash cut his directing teeth on short films before taking things to the next level with the feature Gringo.

The film, staring brother Joel, Charlize Theron and David Oyelowo is generating buzz from critics around the globe. Giles Hardie, one of our leading film critics, will host Nash in this session of The Artist’s Room, leading the audience in getting to know the “other” Edgerton brother and how he moved from action man to fully fledged director.

One year on from debuting the strategy, Event Cinemas has hosted the cream of the Australian industry including, David Wenham (Lord of the Rings), Jim Sharman (The Rocky Horror Picture Show), Phillip Noyce (Rabbit Proof Fence) and Gillian Armstrong (My Brilliant Career).

Anthony Kierann General Manager Film Festivals and Australian Cinema at Event Cinemas says, “Each session of The Artist’s Room demonstrates the eagerness and hunger for audiences to get to know the people behind the films they love. Film students, film lovers and fellow industry standouts have enjoyed seeing our industry leaders up close and personal and hearing directly from them how their art and careers have developed. What a thrill to be hosting Nash in his feature debut on the first anniversary of the strategy.”

The Artist’s Room Gringo screening will be held at 6.30pm on Thursday 31 May at Event Cinemas George St, Sydney.
