Travel the Liberation Route Europe guide to World War II sites and experiences

TO commemorate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Europe and the end of WWII the Liberation Route Europe Foundation and Rough Guides have collaborated to produce an inspirational companion guide to the locations, destinations and points of interest.

The travel book takes the visitor to all the important sites along the Liberation Route Europe.

Liberation began on 10 July 1943 and ended on 8 May 1945, with the surrender of Nazi Germany to the Allies.

The Liberation consisted of three campaigns, one from the west, one from the south and one from the east, which converged on and defeated Nazi Germany.

The collective paths they took are known today as the Liberation Route Europe - a transnational remembrance trail, which connects the regions, sites and stories of the Liberation of Europe from Nazi occupation at the end of World War II.

The book covers hundreds of locations through regions in nine different countries, focusing on the liberation routes of the Allied advance.

There is information on all the important sites linked to the Liberation in nine countries - starting in the UK where much of the planning and preparation took place, then Italy, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany.

The book is enhanced by meticulous mapping, full-colour photography and information about a range of experiences travellers can enjoy such as the Sunset March in Nijmegen, Netherlands - a daily tribute to the Allied Soldiers where a veteran (of any war) walks on the Crossing Bridge with street lamps lighting up with every step.

Best of all, there are carefully planned routes that will help you organise your trip.

The Rough Guides' Travel the Liberation Route Europe book is available in print from all leading bookshops and retailers.

The book, with a recommended retail price of $39.99 also comes with a free eBook.

We have two copies of the Rough Guides' Travel the Liberation Route Europe guide book to give away. For your chance to win, tell us in 25 words or less the Liberation site you would most like to visit, and why. Entries close 11.59pm, Monday 12 August, 2019.
