Title: Win 1/15 “Red Day” books by Sandy Fussell - Sunday Funday - NSW - colouring-in
Post by: culturebird on Sunday 19 April 2020, 08:20:11 am
THE past and present collide in this exciting new book from children’s author Sandy Fussell. When not reviewing children’s books for the Funday Telegraph, Fussell can usually be found in a school library teaching writing workshops or at home, trying to stop her cats from eating her latest manuscript. The NSW author has won numerous awards but this is her first book in some time as she has been coping with her son’s illness — in fact the book is dedicated to their doctor Frank Goderie. The hero, Charlotte — or Charlie — has a rare condition called synaesthesia, which means she sees people and emotions in terms of colours. When a Japanese comes to stay at her family’s western NSW farm, a mystery in her family past and a mystery in his past need to be solved. And what have they got to do with the infamous Cowra Japanese prisoner-of-war camp breakout from 1944? With plenty of humour, this is a perfect book for older primary school and junior high school readers.

It is published by Walker Books and is out now but, to celebrate its release, the Funday Telegraph has 15 copies to give away to readers.

To enter, colour in the picture of the magpie. Then get your parent or guardian to take a picture of your colouring-in and email it to funday@sundaytelegraph.com.au.
