Entries can be in the form of short story, narrative non-fiction, memoir or poetry. Entries open: Friday 13th August. Entries close: 9.00 am, Tuesday 5 October 2021. Please note that entries can only be submitted online, by PLEASE CLICK HERE Prizes Adult: Winner $300, Highly Commended $100 School Students: In each category (Years 10-12, Years 7-9, Years 4-6) Winner $100, Highly Commended $50 Announcement of the prize winners The presentation ceremony will take place during Festival of Fisher’s Ghost in Campbelltown. The Festival of Fisher’s Ghost takes place every November in Campbelltown to commemorate one of Australia’s most famous ghosts, Frederick Fisher. Dating back to 1956 it is held over the first weekend in November. The Festival features the spectacular Street Parade, the prestigious Fisher’s Ghost Art Award, annual Fisher’s Ghost Fun Run, a Street Fair, a giant carnival with fireworks and much more. All winners and highly commended recipients will be invited to attend. Judging guidelines and criteria Word limit: 500 words or, for poetry, 25 lines (excluding the title). Entries will be judged in following categories: School grades 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 and Adult. Work will be judged on: originality and creativity, construction and use of language, engagement with the stated theme, Hiding in plain sight. All work must be original. An independent judging panel will assess all submissions. A winner and highly commended will be awarded in each age category. Winners will be announced at the presentation ceremony. Members of staff, members of the Council, their partners, and members of their immediate families are ineligible to enter this competition. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
