Enter below for your chance to win a double pass to see the award-winning masterpiece Ben-Hur at a special 35mm celluloid film screening at Dendy Cinemas Newtown.  

Dendy Cinemas Newtown has sourced the original 35mm prints to present these films just as the directors intended them to be seen on glorious celluloid film. From now until July, each month, you can see a retro film in glorious 35mm celluloid as part of the 2023 Celluloid Dreams Retro Screenings Season.

Experience sci-fi cult classic Luc Busson’s The Fifth Element (Showing on Jan 24), award-winning masterworks like William Wyler’s Ben-Hur (Showing on Feb 28), and Dennis Hopper’s Easy Rider (showing on May 2), and a touch of Clint Eastwood grit with Dirty Harry (Showing on May 30). Plus, in honour of Bastille Day, join the 14 July screening of Mathieu Kassovitz’s La-Haine.


Winner of 11 Academy Awards, Ben-Hur is an epic drama about an aristocratic Jew living in Judaea who incurs the wrath of a childhood friend, now a Roman tribune. Although forced into slavery on a galley and compelled to witness the cruel persecution of his family, he survives, harbouring dreams of vengeance. A battle at sea and a chariot race are among the memorable sequences.
