McDonald’s selling 50c Big Macs this Friday!

McDonald’s is kicking off three months of celebrations to mark its 50th anniversary this week with an unbelievable discount on their most iconic burger.

Opening the doors to its first Australian restaurant in 1971, the fast food giant now boasts 1009 restaurants nationwide, employing more than 107,000 people and serving a whopping two million Aussies every day.

“We are extremely proud to be celebrating 50 years of providing great tasting food and supporting our customers, people and communities in Australia,” McDonald’s Australia CEO Andrew Gregory said.

“We are firm believers in the quality and taste of Australian home grown produce and have always been and remain committed to our local suppliers and supporting more than 15,000 Aussie farmers annually.”

Mr Gregory added that many of McDonald’s partnerships with Australian suppliers and farmers have now spanned multiple decades – but they “continue to find new ways to constantly improve the Macca’s experience for our customers”.

Chances are you also know someone who has worked for the company at one point in the last five decades – as the largest employer of young people in the country, over 1.5 million Aussies have worked at Macca’s.

“We’re proud of our history and the positive difference our 245 franchisees continue to make by providing the best first job in Australia for young people,” Mr Gregory said.

“Our franchisees play a critical role in making Macca’s one of the most trusted brands in Australia and we’re looking forward to celebrating our 50th birthday with our people and customers.”

To kick off the festivities, this Friday, June 18, the Golden Arches will reduce the price of the Big Mac – 1.1 billion of which have been sold to customers here over the last 50 years – to just 50c at all restaurants across Australia.
