In an Australian exclusive, French dream pop, chill-out electronica wizards Air return to Melbourne early next month for a one-off concert.

Staged as part of the Victorian Government's Always Live music programme – a 17-day statewide celebration of more than 100 shows of contemporary live music – Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel aka Air will perform their seminal masterpiece 'Moon Safari' in full at Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Wednesday 4 December.

Released in 1998 and brimming with lush electronics, swooning songcraft and lashings of irresistible European-hued retro-futurism, 'Moon Safari' is littered with modern-day classics like 'All I Need', 'Sexy Boy', 'La femme d'argent' and 'Kelly Watch The Stars'.

"We were a duo doing some electronic thing, dreaming of selling 10,000 copies and being recognised by other musicians as cool. Then suddenly, we met the world," Dunckel recalls their early days.

A quarter century later, the enduring appeal of 'Moon Safari' is unmistakable. It remains a timeless mood, a sonic haven that bewitches you in a state of bliss throughout.

As Dunckel describes it, the album is "a deep, universal spell, full of love and mystery". While Godin simply calls it "perfect".
