The cash prize from St George Bank will go to the winner of Quest Community Newspapers’ Live Local Buy Local promotion, which reminds people how much they can help their community by buying their goods and services from local traders.
Quest Community Newspapers general manager Mark Elgood said many small businesses, especially those in retail, were doing it tough at the moment.
``Small business is the backbone of our communities, providing jobs, opportunity and goods and services that we all need,’’ he said.

St George’s Queensland managing director Martin Barrett said local businesses were the economic lifeblood of every local community.
“Shopping locally and supporting local businesses ultimately benefits the entire local community, through jobs and access to vital services, and it has never been more important after the recent devastating floods ” he said.
Simply cut out and complete an entry form appearing in the paper for the next six weeks and place it in an entry box at a participating local business.
Terms and ConditionsThe competition is open to all readers of Quest Community Newspapers, who fully complete an entry form and place the completed form in any one of the entry boxes at participating LIVE LOCAL, BUY LOCAL retailers.
Entry forms can be found exclusively:
•In editions of Quest Community Newspapers
•At selected partner business premises
•Online at any of the participating Quest Community Newspaper Websites.
Each submitted entry enables a customer to enter the weekly prize draw for the masthead in which their partner store is located as well as the overall grand prize draw.

How the Competition Works – Prizes
The competition is called LIVE LOCAL, BUY LOCAL and offers readers of Sixteen (16) Quest Community Newspapers the opportunity to win prizes of vouchers. Available vouchers are determined by the newspaper masthead and there will be six (6) of each voucher type per masthead in total.
