PAUL Gallen is off the radar for now but Toowoomba heavyweight Herman Ene-Purcell is hoping a $2000 offer will help find someone to step into the ring with him.
Ene-Purcell is keen for a rematch at some stage with Gallen but for now his priority is finding an opponent to fight at Rumours International on October 31.
The "Herminator" is desperate to be part of the Smithy Brings The Big Fights 8 card.
But with time running out to find a rival his trainer-manager Brendon Smith is throwing out a $2000 challenge as a lure for possible candidates.
Gallen stopped Ene-Purcell in their February meeting this year.
"The Gallen fight is not going to happen for now but we'll keep pursuing a possible rematch with him down the track," Smith said.
"So now the focus is on finding a match-up for Herman on October 31.
"There is a bit of talk around town about a couple of blokes being keen to hop in the ring with Herman, but so far no-one has come forward.
"To help make this happen we are throwing out a $2000 challenge for someone to step up for the fight.
"The purse is theirs, whether they last one minute or the full 12 minutes against him. A guaranteed $2000 is there for the taking."
If a suitable Toowoomba candidate doesn't accept the challenge, Smith will offer the money further afield.Smith said Ene-Purcell's opponent must be in the 100-135kg heavyweight range and be a realistic match.
"Herman is 19 years old. He had no amateur career and has five pro fights for two wins and three losses," Smith said.
"He's not had a lot of ring time, so we're looking for an opponent with similar experience.
"There won't be any silly match-ups and we'll make the final call on who gets in the ring.
"We're looking for a suitable match and we know there are candidates out there."
