Thanks to Good Food Month presented by Citi and our major international airline partner Cathay Pacific and accommodation partner Accor Hotels you and a friend could be jetting off to New York City for the ultimate foodie escape.

Win a trip to New York with Cathay Competition
Terms and Conditions


1. Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry. Entry into the competition is deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions. This is a game of chance.
2. Entry is open to residents of New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, and South Australia who are 18 years of age or over. However, employees and their immediate families of Fairfax Media Publications Pty Limited, Salmat Digital Pty Limited, and their associated agencies and companies are not eligible to enter.
3. The competition commences on Saturday August 1, 2015 at 09:00 (AEST) and concludes on Monday November 30, 2015 at 23:59 (AEST).
4. The competition will be advertised in the following locations:
a. Good Food Websites: www.goodfoodmonth.com, www.sydney.goodfoodmonth.com, www.melbourne.goodfoodmonth.com, www.canberra.goodfoodmonth.com, www.brisbane.goodfoodmonth.com, www.perth.goodfoodmonth.com and www.adelaide.goodfoodmonth.com.
b. The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Sun-Herald, The Brisbane Times, and The Canberra Times.
c. Online at www.smh.com.au, www.brisbanetimes.com.au, www.theage.com.au. www.afr.com.au, and www.watoday.com.au.
5. To enter, participants must:
a. Visit any of the Good Food Month websites mentioned above, and sign up for the Foodie News. newsletter and opt-in to the Fairfax Events Database.
b. Register their personal details including but not limited to first name, surname, email address, State, and telephone number.
6. Entrants will also have the option to opt-in to the Cathay Pacific database.
7. Entrants can unsubscribe at any time.
8. Incomplete entries will be deemed invalid.
9. Entrants in the competition may enter only once per person, per email address
10. The Promoter reserves the right to request the winner to provide proof of identity, proof of residency at the nominated prize delivery address and/or proof of entry validity in order to claim a prize. Proof of identification, residency and entry considered suitable for verification is at the discretion of the Promoter. In the event that a winner cannot provide suitable proof, the winner will forfeit the prize in whole and no substitute will be offered.
11. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and to disqualify any entry which, in the opinion of the Promoter, includes objectionable content, profanity, potentially insulting, inflammatory or defamatory statements, disqualify any entrant who tampers with the entry process, who submits an entry that is not in accordance with these terms and conditions of entry or who has, in the opinion of the Promoter, engaged in conduct in entering the competition which is fraudulent, misleading, deceptive or generally damaging to the goodwill
or reputation of the competition and/or the Promoter. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify a Winner if the Promoter becomes aware that the Winner and/or the Winner.s entry is of a type described in this clause.
12. Entries must be received by 23:59 (AEST) on Monday November 30, 2015. The time of entry will in each case be the time the online entry / Foodie News registration is received by the Promoter.s database. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any late, lost or misdirected entries not received by the Promoter or delays in the delivery due to technical disruptions, network congestion or for any other reason.
13. Any entry that is made on behalf of an entrant by a third party will be deemed invalid.
14. The cost of accessing the promotional website will be dependent on the entrant.s individual Internet Service Provider.
15. The winner and one (1) companion will receive a prize consisting of:
. Two (2) return economy flights flying Cathay Pacific from the winner.s nearest capital city to New York valued up to $5600.
. Three (3) night.s accommodation for 2 people staying at the Novotel, Times Square, New York, valued up to $1500.
. Return NYC airport to hotel transfers for 2 people valued up to $100.
a. Airline tickets will be issued electronically and are valid for travel on Cathay Pacific services only, over the specified routing and in the class of travel as stated. These tickets are non-refundable, non-negotiable, and non-transferable. Flights are valid and able to be booked a year from December 8, 2015 through to December 8, 2016.
b. Flights cannot be booked during the blackout period which are peak times such as public holidays and Australian school holidays, Easter Holidays, Christmas/New Year and Chinese New Year periods and cannot be changed once the booking has been made. Departure Tax is included in the prize.
c. The Prize cannot be used in conjunction with travel or accommodation discounts or special offers. Any extension or variation of the travel dates nominated by the Promoter will be at the cost and responsibility of the winner. Any requests to extend or vary travel arrangements must be made in writing and must be received by the Promoter. Once booked, any changes made to the booking may incur a cancellation or amendment fee, at the cost and responsibility of the winner.
d. Travel must be taken within a year from December 8, 2015 through to December 8, 2016. Flights cannot be changed once the booking has been made. This is also to the discretion of the airline company and the Promoter. If a Winner and travelling companion are, for whatever reason, unable to travel on a nominated date, or do not take an element of the prize within the time stipulated by the Promoter then that element of the prize will be forfeited by the winner. Cash will not be awarded in lieu of the prize or element thereof.
e. Air tickets are available on the regular scheduled services of Cathay Pacific and are subject to availability and seasonal embargos. Flight itinerary may have to be adjusted depending on the airlines departure city and their current flight schedule. Frequent Flyer points are not awarded on these tickets.
f. Accommodation will be at The Novotel, Times Square, New York (the “Hotel”). The booking dates and times, and room specifications will be dependent on the winner„s specified travel dates and are subject to Hotel availability and blackout dates, to be determined solely at the discretion of the Hotel.
16. Total prize pool is valued up to $7,200 (including GST).
17. Prizes cannot be transferred, exchanged or redeemed for cash and the prize ticket must be taken as offered and cannot be sold, bartered or exchanged for cash.
18. The prize cannot be used in conjunction with any other discounts or special offers.
19. The winner and their companion are responsible for all other expenses unless expressly stated in these terms and conditions, including spending money, meals (unless specified), drinks, transfers (unless specified), laundry charges, activities (unless specified), incidentals, taxes (excluding departure and any other flight associated taxes included within the prize), energy surcharges, gratuities, services charges, passports, visas, travel insurance and all other ancillary costs. Travel insurance is highly recommended to protect against the additional costs incurred in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
20. The winner and their companion must travel at the same time and on the same flight, must depart from their nearest departure city (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Cairns, Adelaide or Perth) and return to the same departure city. The winner and their companion are responsible for transport from their residence to their nearest departure city for flight departure. The Promoter will determine the most appropriate departure city, acting reasonably (Connecting flights from any locations other than the major cities listed to these departure capital cities will not be covered by Cathay Pacific or the Promoter as part of the prize package for the winner and their travelling companion).
21. Flight itinerary may have to be adjusted depending on the airlines departure city and their current flight schedule.
22. It is the travellers. personal responsibility to ensure that they have valid documentation, including but not limited to valid passports and visas, which meet the requirements of immigration and other government authorities at every destination. Any fines, penalties, payments or expenditures incurred as a result of such documents not meeting the requirements of those authorities will be the sole responsibility of the travellers. Unless expressly stated in these terms and conditions, all other expenses including travel to and from the event/departure point, become the responsibility of the winner and their companion.
23. Fairfax Media Publications Pty Limited, and Salmat Digital Pty Limited, makes no representation as to the safety, conditions or other issues that may exist at any destination. International travel advice can be obtained from various sources, including government, local consular offices and the web site of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
24. If the prize is unavailable, for whatever reason, the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for a prize of equal or greater value, subject to State Regulation.
25. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse to allow a winner to take part in any or all aspects of the prize, if the Promoter determines, in their absolute discretion, that a Winner is not in the mental or physical condition necessary to be able to safely participate in the prize. It is a condition of accepting the prize that the Winner may be required to sign a legal release in a form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
26. Once prizes have left the Promoter.s premises, the Promoter takes no responsibility for prizes damaged, delayed or lost in transit.
27. By accepting the prize, the winner agrees to participate in and co-operate as required with all reasonable media editorial requests relating to the prize, including but not limited to, being interviewed and photographed, filmed and/or chaperoned throughout the duration of the prize.
28. In consideration for the Promoter awarding the prize to the winner, the winner hereby permits the Winner.s image and/or voice, as recorded, photographed or filmed during the winner.s participation in the prize to appear in connection with Fairfax Media Publications Pty Limited or the advertising or marketing thereof, in any media whatsoever throughout the world and the winner will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
29. In the event that for any reason whatsoever a winner does not take an element of the prize at the time stipulated by the Promoter then that element of the prize will be forfeited by the Winner and cash will not be awarded in lieu of that element of the prize.
30. Prize values are based upon the recommended retail prices at the time of printing (inclusive of GST). The Promoter accepts no responsibility for change in prize value between now and the ultimate prize redemption date.
31. Independent financial advice should be sought as tax implications may arise as a result of accepting the prize.
32. Each valid entrant who has entered the competition over the duration of the competition period will be entered into the competition. One (1) valid entrant will be drawn at random, to become the Winner. The draw will take place at Salmat Digital Pty Limited, Level 2, 116 Miller Street, North Sydney, NSW 2060, on Wednesday December 2, 2015 at 10:00 (AEST).
33. If any particular draw is scheduled on a public holiday, the draw will be conducted on the following business day.
34. The winner will be notified within two (2) days of the draw. The winner will be notified of their prize in writing and will have their details published in The Australian Financial Review on Thursday December 10, 2015.
35. The prize will be awarded to the person named in the entry. However, in a dispute, the prize will be awarded to the account holder of the entry mechanism used to submit their entry (i.e. Foodie News subscription account holder).
36. Should an entrant.s contact details change during the competition period, it is the entrant's responsibility to notify the Promoter. A request to access or modify any information provided in an entry should be directed to the Promoter.
37. Subject to any direction given under relevant State legislation, should the prize be unclaimed, a second random draw will take place at Salmat Digital Pty Limited, Level 2, 116 Miller Street, North Sydney, NSW 2060, on Tuesday March 8, 2016, at 12:00 (AEST).
38. The unclaimed prize winner will be notified within two (2) days of the draw. The unclaimed winner will be notified of their prize in writing and will have their details published in The Australian Financial Review on Tuesday March 15, 2016.
39. The Promoter.s decision is final and the Promoter will not enter into correspondence regarding the competition result.
40. It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner must comply with all the conditions of use of the prize and the prize supplier.s requirements.
41. It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner may be required to sign a legal release in a form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
42. In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly hinders the Promoter.s ability to proceed with the competition on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the competition and recommence it from the start on the same conditions, subject to any written directions given under State Regulation.
43. The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with any prize except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law. The Promoter is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, either caused by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in this competition, or for any technical error, or any combination thereof that may occur in the course of the administration of this competition including any omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line or satellite network failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of entries.
44. The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the promotion. The Promoter.s legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.
45. Fairfax Media Publications Pty Limited, and Salmat Digital Pty Limited, and their associated agencies and companies assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to, or alteration of entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available.
46. If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned, including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any causes beyond the control of the Promoter, which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition, subject to any written direction given under State Regulation.
47. All entries become the property of the Promoter. The Promoter collects personal information about you to enable you to participate in this promotion and that taking part in this competition you are consenting to become a part of our foodie news subscriber database. As such, you are consenting to receiving information from Foodie News.
48. All Cathay Pacific opt-in entries will be entered into a database and Cathay Pacific may use the entrant.s names, addresses and telephone numbers for future promotional and marketing purposes in any media without notice and without any fee being paid unless otherwise advised by the entrant. By opting-in, entrants confirm that they allow their details to be used
for this purpose. If entrants no longer consent to their details being used for future marketing purposes, the entrant should contact Cathay Pacific on 131 747. Any request to update, modify or delete the entrant.s details should be directed to Cathay Pacific.
49. The entrant's personal information will be used for the purpose of determining the winner by Fairfax Media Publications Pty Limited. If you are not willing for this to occur you cannot participate in the competition.
50. Entrants. personal information may be disclosed to State and Territory lottery departments and the winner.s name published as required under the relevant lottery legislation. For purposes of public statements and advertisements the Promoter will only publish the winner.s surname, initial and state. A request to access, update or correct any information should be directed to the Promoter.
51. The Promoter is bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and by entering the Competition, the entrant is taken to consent to Fairfax Media Publications Pty Limited.s privacy policy which contains information, amongst other things, about how the entrant may access personal information that is held by Fairfax Media Publications Pty Limited about the entrant and seek correction of such information. See http://www.fairfax.com.au/privacy.html to view Fairfax Media Publications Pty Limited.s APP Privacy Policy in full. The Promoter.s APP Privacy Policy also contains information about how the entrant may complain about a breach of the APPs, or a registered code that is binding on our organisation and how Fairfax Media Publications will deal with such complaints. Fairfax Media Publications Pty Limited generally does not give the entrant.s personal information to anyone outside Australia.
