Busking competition entry form

Busk at the 2016 Urban Country Music Festival on Saturday 30 April and Sunday 1 May. Buskers must be available on both days and will receive a confirmation pack detailing their set performance time/s and Village Location.

Entries close 5.00pm on Friday 15 April, 2016.
The contact person for this application must be over 18 and will be required to accept the Terms and Conditions on behalf of all members in the act.


To participate in the Urban Country Music Festival Busking Competition (the Competition), buskers need to be registered with the Moreton Bay Regional Council (Council) by completing an online entry form or by submitting the 2016 Busking Competition entry form , to be received by the closing date, Friday 15 April, 2016. By entering the Competition, each busker agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions. Entry to the Competition is free.
The promoter is the Moreton Bay Regional Council (Council), PO Box 159, Caboolture, Qld, 4510.
For the purposes of the Competition, ‘busking’ is defined as playing a musical instrument and/or singing, conjuring, juggling, mime, mimicry, dance, puppetry, performance art, recitation, and other appropriate theatrical and visual forms as approved by the Council for no payment or reward, other than donations from the public or prizes won. No electrical equipment/outlets will be supplied.
The Council reserves the right to accept, reject or refuse an entry at any time.
Council Staff and family members of Council staff are not permitted to enter the Busking Competition.
The Council may vary the terms and conditions of this Competition at any time at its absolute discretion.
Buskers’ performances must be country, roots or folk themed, as determined by the Council.
Buskers must follow all directions of Council officers, including performing within the volume levels set by Council Officers.
Buskers will be rostered to perform throughout the Historical Village prior to the festival.
Buskers will be permitted to busk in one location for a limit of one hour only. Buskers shall only operate at the designated site for their registered times.
Buskers’ performances must be safe and in no way endanger any person or property.
Performance equipment, instruments and associated fixtures shall be positioned to allow safe access for pedestrians at all times.
Buskers must not use dangerous implements or materials as part of a performance.
Buskers must not use offensive language or perform in a way that may, in the Council’s sole opinion, cause offence to the public.
The winner will be chosen by the Council’s representative on Sunday 1 May, 2016.
The decision as to the winner is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
The winner will be notified by phone or email. If a winner cannot be contacted for whatever reason, Council may select another winner.
The Competition prizes are; first place $500, 2nd place $300, 3rd place $200 and People’s Choice $200
The competition prize cannot be exchanged for cash or any other services. If the winner is unable to accept or use the prize, it will be forfeited. If there is any event that prevents or hinders Council’s conduct of the competition or Council’s ability to deliver the prize to the prize winner of the competition, Council may, in its discretion, cancel the competition or recommence it at another time under the same conditions or select another winner.
Buskers agree to participate in any promotional, marketing and publicity activities by Council in relation to the Competition. Buskers also agree that the Council may use their entry, any photographs of them taken at the Urban Country Music Festival and any personal details provided to the Council for any promotional, marketing and publicity purposes of the Council in any media without notice and without any fee being paid to them, and relinquish all moral rights to same.
Buskers represent and warrant they are knowledgeable about the copyright laws of Australia as applicable to their performance and will not perform any copyrighted materials of others without full compliance with such applicable copyright laws.
Buskers voluntarily undertake any risks associated with the Competition and release Council, Councillors, employees, agents and officers of the Council from any and all liability for damage, loss or injury, however caused, that they may suffer as a result of or arising from a breach of these terms and conditions or their participation in the Competition. Buskers acknowledge and agree that the Council, Councillors, employees, agents and officers of the Council may plead this waiver and indemnity as a bar to any proceedings they may commence against all or any of them. Buskers agree to indemnify and keep indemnified the Council, Councillors, employees, agents and officers of the Council against any liability, claim, demand, cost or damage they may incur as a result of or arising from, whether directly or indirectly, breach of these terms and conditions or their participation in the Competition. This Clause 22 survives the term of this Competition.
