What’s bright, big, round and orange, and all alone up in the sky? Everyone knows it is Soorya the Sun, except for little Hanuman. Hanuman believes the sun to be a sweet, juicy, giant mango, the cheeky monkey child flies high up into the heavens just to get his little paws on his favourite fruit.

Through tales filled with courage and a dose of mischief, find out how little Hanuman was stopped from devouring the sun and became the fearless monkey god with ‘the broken chin’.

Hanuman’s Tale: The Tale Behind the Name - originally commissioned by Esplanade Theatres on the Bay (Singapore) as part of Kalaa Utsavam/Indian Festival of Arts 2015 - skilfully combines narration, sketches, dance and music.

The show is part of QPAC’s 2016 Out of the Box biennial festival for children eight years and under (21 – 28 June 2016).

Dates: 21 to 28 June 2016
Venue: Cremorne Theatre, QPAC
Duration: 45 minutes
Tickets: Adult $29, Child (18 months and over) $25

For more info or bookings, see www.qpac.com.au. For the full festival program, visit www.outoftheboxfestival.com.au.

Brisbane’s CHILD and QPAC are giving away one family pass (admits four, valued at $108) for Sunday 26 June 2016 at 1.30pm, courtesy of QPAC (Queensland Performing Arts Centre).
