TheBull Stock Picking Tournament – gold stocks

After a slew of entries for the inaugural stock picking tournament last week, we now enter the second week. The first week's winner - based on the largest percentage gain over this week - will be announced in next Thursday's newsletter.

Please remember to put the stock code and target price in the subject so that your entry counts. And don't forget to provide a reason why you selected the stock.

Gold bulls are still firmly optimistic about the prospects for the yellow metal, which is why we're looking at a group of gold miners this week.

The global downturn, loose monetary policy and a flight to safety are all good signs for the gold price.

For this week's tournament TheBull has pulled out a list of gold miners currently trading above $0.20 a share.

All you have to do is select one stock from the list and enter by clicking the red link below.

General Instructions on how to enter and other details contained within promotional advertisements for the competition form part of the conditions of entry. By entering the competition, entrants agree to abide by these terms and conditions.?Entrants must be Australian residents and must be over 18 years old to enter. Employees, contractors and agents of The Compare Group Pty Ltd and their respective spouses or dependant children are ineligible to enter.

Competition duration
Competition commences at 1pm AEST on 05/03/2009 and will be run weekly until a future date as determined by The Compare Group Pty Ltd. Entries for this competition close weekly each Friday at 6pm. No late entries will be eligible.

Prize details & conditions
First Prize: $500.00, paid by cheque mailed to the winner's address.

Method of entry
Entrants will be eligible to win the prize if the Entrants select one of the stocks outlined above and email it to tech@thebull.com.au. Entrants must be TheBull newsletter subscribers. If you are not already a subscriber you can subscribe by clicking this link.

In your email you must include:

3. The Winner will be selected from the group of people who select the top percentage gainer for the week Monday to Friday. The ultimate winner will be the person who picks the figure closest to the closing stock price on Friday. In the event that there is more than one person with the same amount, the winner will be selected by the best reason why they selected the stock, as determined by TheBull.com.au.

4. Any entrant who unsubscribes from TheBull newsletter prior to the draw date will not be eligible to win the prize.

5. Validity of entries will be determined by TheBull.com.au and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the validity of entries. Multiple entries to the competition are not allowed. 

Winner notification
Winners will be notified by email. Winners will also be published on thebull.com.au website from 2pm each Thursday and on TheBull newsletter. It is the responsibility of each winner to collect the prize. If unclaimed, the prize for this competition will be automatically forfeited after 90 days from the date of notification and will not be available if claimed after that date.

Publicity
It is a condition of entry that TheBull has the right to publicise the winner for any promotion or matter incidental to the competition, if required. Winners consent to their name and suburb being put on the compareshares.com.au website and TheBull newsletter. Winners may also be required by TheBull to participate in a photo session and acknowledges that TheBull has the right to use such publicity photos in any medium (including, without limitation, the Internet), and in any reasonable matter it deems fit. Winners agree to make themselves available for publicity purposes without charge.

Indemnity & disclaimer
All entrants release and indemnify The Compare Group and all of its related companies and personnel from and against, all liability, cost, loss or expense arising out of acceptance of any prize(s) or participation in the competition including (but not limited to) loss of income, personal injury, damage to property and whether direct or consequential, foreseeable, due to some negligent act or omission or otherwise.
