The story begins when Marcilla arrives at the home of General von Spielsdorf (the very fab Peter Cushing) and is soon casting a spell on everyone in the household, particularly the young female members. After having to flee the Generals house in a hurry Marcilla (or Carmilla as she is now known) finds fresh blood in the home of Mr Morton in the shape of the gorgeous Madeline Smith – however von Spielsdorf is determined to track down Marcilla and destroy her once and for all.

Answer: Roy Ward BakerThe Vampire Lovers is a 1970 British Hammer Horror film directed by Roy Ward Baker and starring Peter Cushing, Ingrid Pitt, Madeline Smith, Kate O'Mara, and Jon Finch. It is based on the J. Sheridan Le Fanu novella Carmilla and is part of the so-called Karnstein Trilogy of films. The other films in the trilogy are Lust for a Vampire (1971) and Twins of Evil (1972). The three films were somewhat daring for the time in explicitly depicting lesbian themes. In the early 1980s an Australian punk group named themselves Vampire Lovers in a tribute to the movie.
