Kick start your summer reading and enter our competition to win a set of the 26 new Popular Penguins. Among them you’ll find much-loved fiction and non-fiction from iconic authors and contemporary writers.

Summer Reading Competition: Competition Terms and Conditions
1. This Promoter of this competition is Penguin Books (Australia), a division of
Pearson Australia Group Pty Ltd ABN 40 004 245 943 at 250 Camberwell Road,
Camberwell, Victoria, 3124 (‘Promoter’).
2. The competition closes on 4pm AEST Monday January 9, 2012.
3. No purchase is necessary to enter this competition.
4. Each entrant may enter this competition once only. If you enter more than once
only the first entry received will be eligible for judging. Entrants are required to tell us
what the total number of pages is across the 26 Popular Penguins titles pictured.

5. This competition is open to Australian residents only. Employees and agents of the
Promoter, its parent company, subsidiaries, affiliates and their families; and anyone
else in any way involved in the development, production, or administration of this
competition, are not eligible to enter.
6. The competition closes in Australia at 4pm AEST Monday January 9, 2012. The
Promoter accepts no liability for any late or delayed entries howsoever caused,
including any lost or misdirected entries not received by the closing date. Without
limitation, this includes any late, damaged or non-delivery of entries caused by
malfunctioning or failure of any computer or telecommunications networks,
equipment, servers, connections or lines; or by any software defects, bugs or physical
or online traffic congestion; or through any human errors and any other acts or
omissions whether or not negligent or intentional.
7. Competition judging will commence at AEST 10am on Tuesday January 10, 2012
at Penguin Books (Australia), 250 Camberwell Road, Camberwell, Victoria, 3124.
The winner’s name and state will be published at penguin.com.au/competitions from
Wednesday January 11, 2012.
8. The winner will be notified in writing and by phone or email. Prizes must be
claimed within 14 working days of the date of the written notification.
9. Any prize that is unclaimed after 14 working days will automatically lapse and the
Promoter reserves the right to offer the unclaimed prize to the entrant whose entry
was judged to be the second best.
10. Chance plays no part in determining the winner. Entries will be judged in regard
to skill.
12. By entering this competition each entrant confirms that his/her entry is their
wholly-owned creation. Any entry that makes use of any third party materials must be
fully cleared prior to entry unless they are no longer protected by copyright or other
intellectual property rights. Each entrant agrees to indemnify and keep the Promoter
harmless from any claims arising in connection with his/ her entry, including without
limitation any claim of infringement of any personal or proprietary right of any
person.
13. The submission of an entry automatically constitutes and is deemed a grant by the
entrant to the Promoter of a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to edit,
publish, translate, modify, adapt, make available, communicate to the public and
distribute the entry (or any part thereof) for any purpose throughout the world in any
media now known or hereafter invented. Each entrant hereby unconditionally and
irrevocably consents to any of the foregoing acts being done with respect to his/ her
entry without attribution of authorship. Each entrant undertakes to complete any
necessary documentation to formalise the licence. Please do not submit materials to us
if you do not want to grant such rights to the Promoter. 14. All entries become the property of Pearson Australia Group Pty Ltd.
15. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
16. The person judged the winner will win a one copy of the new 26 Popular Penguins
valued at $9.95rrp each. There is one prize only on offer valued at $258.70 rrp.
17. The competition winner may be asked to take part in reasonable publicity and to
the use of their name for such publicity at and across the Promoter’s websites, and in
online Penguin newsletters and Penguin’s social media sites including Penguin’s
Facebook page.
18. The prize is not transferable and not redeemable for cash or any other goods or
services. If for any reason any item is out of stock or unavailable, an order for it will
be recorded for you and it will be sent when it becomes available. The promotion is
not capable of running as planned, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole
discretion (subject always to any direction given by a relevant authority) to cancel,
terminate, extend, modify or suspend the competition or the prize at any time. The
Promoter may at its sole discretion disqualify any entry where the entry or its
submission does not comply with any of these Competition Terms and Conditions, or
any individual who tampers or interferes with the participation process.
19. Each entrant consents to the collection and use of his/ her personal information by
the Promoter for purposes related to the Promotion (including without limitation
notifying and publicly announcing the entrant determined to be the winner) or for
direct marketing by the Promoter, in accordance with applicable laws including the
Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The Promoter’s Privacy policy is available for viewing or
printing at
http://www.penguin.com.au/Privacy/PandSstatement.htm. Each entrant
may access his/ her personal information by contacting the Promoter’s Privacy
Officer. Please tick the box on the online entry form if you wish to receive electronic
marketing information from the Promoter.
20. Each entrant agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions. Each entrant
indemnifies the Promoter against, and to the fullest extent permitted by law releases
the Promoter from, any claim, liability, loss, cost, damage or expense howsoever
arising out of, or in connection with, the prize or use thereof, the entrant’s entry, or
this competition including (but not limited to) personal injury and damage to property
and whether direct, indirect, special, consequential or foreseeable, and whether due to
some negligent act or omission or otherwise.
21. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Victoria,
Australia.
