Real Estate's latest album It’s Real has an autumnal feel with an underlying suburban yearning. It’s not only unburdened by cliché, but surprisingly honest too. Real Estate have been on a one-way, stratospheric trajectory, deservedly receiving praise from both critics and punters for their languid, rock-pop sound.
Dom Kirkwood caught up with basist Alex Bleeker about the genesis of the band and whether they really sound like The Bats.
Dominic Kirkwood: Under what circumstances did you meet the people that would eventually become Real Estate?
Alex Bleeker: I met Martin Courtney, the lead singer of Real Estate, in a little league baseball team when we were in elementary school. We were about 8 or 9 years old and we were the two worst players on the team. We weren’t great pals (whilst we were) in the team but that was definitely the first time we met.
They're playing Golden Plains at The Zoo, Tue Mar 13 with Feathers and Tight Slip
