Lightning McQueen is coming to the Dick Smith Sandown 500 and to celebrate the Herald Sun is giving six lucky kids aged between 3 – 6 years the chance to suit up and race down V8 Supercars pit straight in a Lightning McQueen electric car. Plus a weekend family pass to the event, 14 – 16 September.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
By entering the WIN AND RIDE IN LIGHTNING McQUEEN “The Competition”, you are agreeing to the
following terms and conditions:
1. STANDARD TERMS
1.1 Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry. Entry into the promotion is deemed
acceptance of these conditions of entry.
2. WHO CAN ENTER?
2.1 Subject to clause 2.2, entry is open only to all residents of Victoria with a child between the ages of 3
and 6 years of age. Must be able to show upon request proof of residency e.g. Drivers License.
2.2 Employees and their immediate families of The Promoter (Herald & Weekly Times Pty Ltd & V8
Supercars), and their associated agencies and companies are not eligible to enter. Immediate family
means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether by
natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece,
nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or first cousin.
3. HOW TO ENTER
3.1 The competition commences on Saturday September 1, 2012 at 00.01 (AEST) and concludes on
Thursday September 6, 2012 at 23:59 (“the Competition Period”).
To enter the competition, entrants must go to www.heraldsun.com.au/competitions and submit the
online entry form including the entrant’s full name, address, postcode, day contact number and email
address.
3.2 Only one entry per valid email address. Entries via phone and email are invalid and will not be
accepted.
3.3 The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of entries and reserves the right to disqualify an
entrant for tampering with the entry process or for submitting an entry which is not in accordance
with the terms and conditions.
3.4 Participants in the Lightning McQueen race, must be aged between 3 and 6 years of age.
4. PRIZE
Six winners will receive:
- Lightning McQueen electric ride on experience for a child aged between 3 and 6 years of age on
Saturday 15 September between 11.30am – 1.30pm
- A family pass to the (includes 4 (four) x General Admission Weekend tickets to Dick Smith
Sandown 500 from September 14 – 16, 2012 at Sandown Racecourse, Springvale (includes
paddock access)
- A child’s Lightning McQueen race suit
Total prizing value: $5,988.00
4.1 Prize conditions:
4.1.1 If for any reason the major winner does not take the prize or any element of the prize at the
time stipulated by the Promoter – prize redeemable only on Saturday 15 September, 2012, then the
prize or any element of the prize will not be redeemable for cash. In event the prize winner is unable
to redeem the prize on the stipulated date, winner will forfeit prize in full.
4.1.2 The ability to participate in the Lightning McQueen electric car race is subject to certain height,
weight and medical parameters as determined appropriate by V8 Supercars in its absolute discretion.
For safety reasons we would advise the child participating in the Lightning McQueen Electric Car ride
to be no taller than 120cm. This does depend on the flexibility and fitness of the individual child,
however V8 Supercars make no guarantee child over these height restrictions will fit into the Lightning
McQueen electric car and may therefore be unable to fulfill the ride experience.
4.1.3 The prize is not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash. In the event that any prize
item is unavailable; the Promoter reserves the right to substitute a prize item of equal or greater
value. Any taxes (other than GST, if any) which may be payable as a consequence of a winner receiving
the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner. All other expenses, including travel to and from the
venue, other than those outlined in the terms and conditions are the responsibility of the prize
winner.
4.1.5 The winner must wear closed toe shoes in order to participate in the Event.
4.1.6 In participating in the prizes, the winner agrees to participate and co-operate as required in all
editorial activities relating to the promotion, including but not limited to being interviewed and
photographed. The winner grants the Promoter a perpetual and non-exclusive license to use such
footage and photographs in all media worldwide and the winner will not be entitled to any fee for
such use.
5. HOW TO WIN
5.1.1 The competition will be judged on the best answer to the question on the entry form, at HWT, 40 City
Road, Southbank, VIC 3006 from 12noon on Friday September 7, 2012.
5.2 The winners will be notified by telephone and email and will have their name and postcode of
residence published on the Website on 07/09/12.
5.3 The Promoter’s decision is final and the Promoter will not enter into correspondence regarding the
result.
5.4 If an entrant marks the “opt-in” box on the entry coupon, the entrant consents to storage of their
personal information on the specified companies’ databases and the specified companies may use this
information at any time in the future for promotional and marketing purposes regarding their
respective products or services including contacting the entrant via electronic messaging.
6 NO LIABILITY
6.1 In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly
hinders the Promoter’s ability to proceed with the competition on the dates and in the manner
described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures,
tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, the Promoter may in
its absolute discretion cancel the competition and recommence it from the start on the same
conditions, subject to State Legislation.
6.2 By entering into this competition the entrant agrees that if they win, they must comply with the
Conditions of Entry to the V8 Supercars. The entrant acknowledges and accepts that they have been
warned that there is a possibility of an accident causing injury, death or property damage in accepting
the prize and that motor racing is dangerous, and that participation in the prize has a degree of
danger. To the extent permitted by law, the winning entrants must exclude, release and forever
discharge the Promoters, and all other persons involved in the conduct, promotion and organisation
of the 2012 Dick Smith Sandown 500 V8 Supercars and their respective employees, officers, agents
and contractors from all liability for claims, loss, damage, cost or expenses (whether arising under
statute, from negligence, personal injury, death, property damage, infringement of third party rights
or otherwise) arising from or in connection with the participation in the relevant prize or attendance
at the Sandown Motor Raceway or otherwise howsoever arising.
6.3 To be eligible to win the prize, winners must:
6.3.1 on request of the Promoters, execute any and all documentation (if any) necessary to give effect to
6.2 and sign a waiver and indemnity form (The Form) and agree to be bound by any other safety or
timing conditions set by the Promoters or the V8 Supercar race team providing the Lightning
McQueen electric car ride prize to the winners.
6.4 The Promoters and their associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any misadventure,
accident, injury, loss (including but not limited to consequential loss) or claim that may occur:
6.4.1 during the draw;
6.4.2 whilst undertaking any travel connected with their entry into the draw;
6.4.3 in the participation in any prize;
6.4.4 as a consequence of late, lost or misdirected mail;
6.4.5 due to the broadcast of any program relating to the competition or the publication of any
material, including any statements made by any compere, staff member, journalist, other
entrants or any other person;
6.4.6 arising from or related to any problem or technical malfunction of any telephone network or
lines or mobile communications network related to or resulting from participation in this
promotion; or
6.4.7 due to circumstances outside the Promoter’s reasonable control.
6.5 The Promoters and their affiliates assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption,
deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission; communications line failure, theft or destruction or
unauthorised access to, or alteration of, entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be
available.
6.6 If, for any reason, this competition is not capable of being conducted as planned, including, but not
limited, due to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes
beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness,
integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to
disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, take any action that may be available, and
to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition, subject to State Legislation.
