Sydney Festival 2013 (ticket giveaway)




For three weeks from January 5, the Sydney Festival once again brings a bundle of theatre, dance, performance and, of course, music into the heart of the city.

While there's more than enough to keep you occupied all month, our picks of the bunch are: space techno pioneer Nicolas Jaar; the 2001: A Space Odyssey soundtrack being performed live by the Sydney Philharmonic; outré-pop exponents Dirty Projectors; falsetto crooner Perfume Genius; the free Daptone label retrospective in the Domain on opening night; and the ever-mercurial and wise pairing of David Byrne and St Vincent.

We would add one more to the mix though: Australian indie heroes Dappled Cities journeying back through a decade's worth of their own symphonic rock with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra and Choir in the Sydney Town Hall.
